Dear PMM,
can you, please, advise me on the following matter? I have got a letter from my attorney that I received a passport request and have to come to the embassy (Kiev, Ukraine) to pick up the visa till November 3, 2006. The problem is that I have the tickets to the USA for October 3 and back in 6 weeks which are not refundable. Is there a possibility that they will issue the visa the same day if I go to the embassy on Monday, October 2? Or can I collect the visa in the Canadian embassy in the USA?
And another question is how much is Payment of the Right of Permanent Residence Fee and do I pay it in the embassy before getting the visa?
Your advice will be much appreciated as I do not know what to do.
Thanks in advance.

1.  Contact Kiev and ask if they issue the same day, I doubt it but you can ask.
2.  No it will not be issued in the US.
3.  Here are the fees: http://www.sdc.gc.ca/en/ei/types/regular.shtml  It appears that you can pay in cash, certified cheque or money order, but they must be valid for 4 months after the issuance date.  Yes you must pay it before they will issue the visa.
