Hi PMM,

I got the PPR on Apr 20, 2011. I have an "official passport". Now after getting the passport request I applied to my home embassy for a "regular passport" as you can't have an immigrant visa issued on an official passport. What should I do now? Take only my new regular passport for Immigrant visa issuance or take it along with my previous official passport to the Buffalo Visa office?(as I am planning to go to buffalo VO in person) Is there a problem in that? FYI my home embassy didn't take my official passport away because my I-94 and US non-resident visa is on that passport. Also should I update Buffalo VO about the change before I send the passport for visa issuance?

Your guidance is much appreciated.
Thanks a bunch.

It will be adviceable for you to get new passport as soon as you can to avoid any delay on the issuance of your Visa.

In response to your Diplomatic Passport you can attach it to your New passport then go to Buffalo in person them inform them that you will like your Visa to be issued on the New passport. But if the New passport is not from the same Country as the diplomatic passport or the information on your passport have any changes then they will likely update the information on your recent passport in there system.
Goodluck!

You may have a problem.  With 2 valid passports Buffalo is not going to want you be able to claim Dip status in Canada, while you have an ordinary passport with COPR in it.

Thanks for the reply PMM.

But the Diplomatic passport has has its diplomatic effect only in USA. It will not have a canadian visa on it so I cant even use it in Canada. or what if I ask them to cancel the dip passport if they have some issue with it but it has my I-94 and US visa on it. what is your opinion?

Thanks in advance
