Yea, I really think it depends on who you get on the phone.

I called first thing in the morning too, so maybe she had not been bombarded with calls yet so was still cheerful?  hehe

Besides, this lady said no information available until 12-14 weeks ,and got very upset when I asked her which one, 12 weeks or 14 weeks.  Roll Eyes

I couldn't help but laugh at this, LOVE that you asked for clarification.
Sorry that she wasn't very helpful though.
I too was told it takes 12 weeks you know.
Well why even let us call then?

There is one lady who is very cold and "by the book", must be the one you're talking about. She's the one who told me "maybe my fingerprints can never be read" and the whole "we can't look it up until 10 weeks or more". Like you guys. When I told her others had gotten theirs in 7-8 weeks so I might too, she said "they had pre-existing fingerprint requests". Which makes no sense. Maybe it's more than one, but she sounds the same. When she answers, I hang up now!!

The woman I talked to this time was not only helpful, but she even gave me my file number! So next time I call, I just have to give the number and it will be much easier than arguing with whichever woman gives us the hard time!

I spoke to a lovely man.  Unfortunately, they should have received my prints May 4th but I am still not in the system! I am a bit worried that it never got there because some people who sent it later said they have gotten replies.

OMG!

I came down to visit my hubby this weekend and guess what was waiting in the mail for us?!?!?!  We got the results back from his FBI check.  7 weeks and 4 days after they received it.  They used the prepaid overnight envelope we sent so I assume she told me July 13 based on regular mail?  No idea, but so happy.  I squealed like a little girl when I found out we got it and that his prints were accepted.

Don't worry they are still crossed.

The number I called for the FBI was 304-625-5590.

Adetia,

Did CIC give you a deadline for FBI certificate?  I am thinking about sending my application without it if I don't have it back by the end of this month.   I have 2 certificats that are expiring at the end of July and I sure don't want to redo them.

Again I am sorry to hear your prints got rejected.  Sad  that sucks.

its 90 days according to the   forum!... mines were expired when i mailed my application out. i am in the process of getting a new one. i was approved for the first stage and it is now processing in Buffalo with an expired FBI print. I am getting one done again so i can save time when they ask me for a new one!

I hate that it takes so long to even tell you they were rejected, ugh.  I am praying my hubby's were fine.

If they come back rejected I am saying screw it and forcing my lawyer to send our application in without it for now, I can at least get sponsorship approval while we wait.  If she refuses, I am tempted to fire her and demand a refund of some of the money I have paid, because other than helping us fill out the forms so far, she has not done much.

i would mail the application in without them with an explanation!

I just called the FBI to follow up on my request, which was mailed around the end of May (forgot to track it  Sad  ).  Talked with Sonja who was very polite; told me that I'm not in the database yet but that it's taking about 10 weeks after receipt for them to log in the request.  Seems it's pretty much like CIC - once they log it in, they start to process it . . . so she said to watch for the charge on my credit card and then I should expect the clearance about 2-3 weeks later.

Just for the record, I did write on the outside that I needed it by the end of June because of a request from Immigration Canada on an appealed application that is being re-processed - CIC gave me only 8 weeks to get everything back to them.  I didn't ask her whether that will hurry things up because it seems pretty obvious that they are no longer expediting for any reason whatsoever.  Last time I submitted requests (in 2007) the turn-around on all three of them (my sons and me) was 3 weeks!  Now we're looking at 3 months.  I'm really glad that I used the option for charging the credit card, instead of paying by money order, or I wouldn't have any way at all to tell when they start on it.  But I really wish I'd at least tracked it - I wouldn't have to sit here wondering whether it's lost in the mail somewhere.  I can't believe I didn't think of that!

The most frustrating part is that after waiting on the IAD for 2 years for an appeal, and waiting on CIC for six months after the appeal to get the application back in process, now I'm waiting on the FBI for something I really shouldn't even need to get in the first place considering the fact that I haven't been in the States even once since the last time I got an FBI clearance.  It's so annoying.  Sometimes I think it would've been faster and easier just to fork over another $775 in fees and start all over again with a new application.
