I have never used one of these before so sorry in advance.
I am a british citizen and have lived in Britain for my whole life.
I have been convicted of two seperate offences
1.Drink driving on 21/02/2010 - convicted 29/11/2010, I have completed a drink driver awareness course at my own expense as part of the rehabilitation - I have much mitigation for this inc if that makes any difference?? All evidence can be provided to the appropriate authority.
2.Common assault on 30/05/2010 - convicted 01/12/2010.
It has only just come to light that I may not get into Canada for a very very fast approaching visit that I have booked. I am travelling to Vancouver with my best friend who is getting married, I am best man also travelling is his parents, brother his wife and their 6 month old baby.
I have read so many conflicting accounts on the internet about the above sort of things as was hoping someone on here could give some precise and informative help/guidance.
We travel on 1st Sep and I am due to return to England on the 5th September.
I will gratefully and respectfully accept any advice, feedback anything as to be honest we are all panicking re this...............

Drink driving in Canada is a really serious matter.

Criminal inadmissibility

If you have committed or been convicted of a criminal offence, you may not be allowed to enter Canada.

Criminal offences include both minor and serious offences, such as theft, assault, manslaughter, dangerous driving and driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

You are inadmissible as either a visitor or an Immigrant.  You can't apply for rehabilitation until 5 years after the completion of the sentence.  You may wish to read http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/rehabil.asp

You will not be allowed into Canada.
In Canada, criminal rehabilitation for immigration purposes is not a fast process.
If you attempt entry by lying (See misrepresentation below) and are caught, you can be deported and may be subject to additional penalties (see penalties below).

Misrepresentation

It is a serious crime to misrepresent yourself by making false statements, or submitting false information or false documents when dealing with CIC.
Note that lying on an application or in an interview with a CIC officer is also fraud and a crime.

Penalties
Depending on the situation, the penalties may include:

No entry into Canada for at least two years.
A permanent record of fraud in CIC's database.
Having your permanent resident status or Canadian citizenship revoked.
Being charged with a crime.
Removal from Canada.

Sorry, but I think that you will need to cancel your travel plans.
