My best frd she's going to get a visitor visa in  Canadian Consulate General Shanghai. And she will use the visitor visa to deliver her baby in vancouver.

Here is my question, can she extend her visa stay after arrive in Vancouver? she dun have any relative in here.

and also will the child get canadian nationality?

Thanks a million!

Unfortunately no one can say if she will be able to extend her stay. The most she can do is apply for an extension and hope for the best results.

Hopefully she is aware that she will have to pay for the delivery (i.e. her hospital costs will not be covered by the Canadian health care system). She should budget at least $10K just to be safe. However keep in mind that the costs can be higher if there are complications.

Also check the local Airline guidelines. A lot of Airlines will not let pregnant women travel after 3 months. If your friend gets a visa for 6 months she is going to be really close to birth times. If she cannot extend her visa, then Canada will expect her to leave. If no airline will take her because of her pregnancy, she will be issued a deportation order.

This will make her inadmissible to Canada in future for a period of time. Also, this may make the baby not a Canadian if she gives birth, whilst on a removal order. So she ends up paying for the birth, being removed and no citizenship for the baby.

Be very very careful about this route, it can cause huge complications.
