Interview........: 12 may 2011

This was about 6 weeks ago. after waiting 1 yr for interview, singapore finally called.

so my wife did the interview, and it was not good. they accused my wife of lying. they asked if my wife have any relatives in canada. my wife said 1 aunt in toronto, which was stated on the application. they said "we found out that u have 2 aunts in canada, how come u said only 1?" my wife said because i havent met the other aunt, cus she came to canada when my wife was a baby. my wife never met the other aunt, only the 1 aunt we mentioned because she visited vietnam a few times and shes the one that introduced us. we didnt think it would be a big deal. its our mistake that we put 1 aunt on the application and not 2. we totally messed this one up. so my wife says the officer doesnt seem to believe her. the officer said he will sent the application to his manager and will let us know the out come after 6 weeks.

i am freaking out rite now and my wife is really sad and cried. my wife brought 15 months of phone bills and over 50pics of us including wedding and honey moon pics. they took all those and all her documents and review them for about 10min before letting my wife into the room for interview. i dont know if they see the evidence or not. but my wife says shes got a feeling shes not gonna pass, because the officer was never smile nor friendly during interview and keeps attacking her instead.

can someone tell me the appeal procedure? how long? and what we can do? i am really freaking out rite now. this is a real marriage, we have been waiting a year for interview, and the outcome was not good.

 ..........................

So today, i just got the bad news from wifey in vietnam. she said in the letter they say that we broke the law by lying and that my wife can not apply again for at least 2 yrs. can someone tell me if i can get a lawyer to save me? or is this not save able. thanks.

You can make an appointment with your MP and explain your case and see if they can help you.  It doesn't make any sense that they would refuse her for a mistake like this because it doesn't even matter for a spousal application how many aunts she has in Canada.

Wow, this seems incredibly strict and I'm sorry to hear. I would definitely try to take the case further and try to get a change in their decision.

etownboy: Here is a post from bangkokcanuck on a petition to Canadian high commission regarding practices at the singapore visa office. Maybe you can sign up there. This is ridiculous! The reason for denial is irrelevant. They really find any way to make it harder for families to come to canada but I've also heard that Singapore government is really strict on their laws even for loitering.

try to contact the higher ranking officers - supervisor, department manager, etc....send them a letter to explain ur situation clearly and politely....state that it was clearly a misunderstanding and mistake from their part and ask for a review

unfortunately, i don't know how they can be contacted....i read in a thread (don't remember which Sad )...the lady found the info on one of these manuals i think, under a section called "If something goes wrong", "what to do when the VO does not answer or don't agree with their decision" etc

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/op/index.asp

i'll try to find the thread and get back to u

maybe other members know....

i'm so sorry, it's ok, maybe with a little persuasion they will change the outcome....good luck!!

Contact your Member of Parliament immediately as Leon adviced. Explain your situation and bring a copy of the refusal letter with you. Try to pursue the MP`s office to take a closer look at your file. They might be able to find the right doors for you. It is outrageous, the reason they gave you is a mistake but not that huge and really irrelevant for a spousal appalication.
I am really sorry for your trouble but you have to act fast if you want your file to be revised.
