Planning for children hence applying with 'spouse not accompanying'

Hi All,

We are planning to have children and hence would like to apply as spouse (wife) not accompanying. This way, the principal applicant processing is not hindered following med request. I understand that medical request is required for family members whether or not accompanying. Is this true? Meds could be difficult if the spouse is pregnant as x-ray cannot be done for a pregnant wife.  I would like to sponsor my wife and kids(if any) at a later date after I settle down in Canada? What are your thoughts/comments/suggestions on this?
