Hi .. does anyone know if Canada Immigration knows when you leave the country to the USA,  and vice-versa..I know they have ways of tracking your passport by scanning it. Do USA and Canada share
that info?  is it all linked up? thks

I don't know if it is linked or not but if you're not from a visa-free country,  when you enter the US they give you an I94 and put a stamp on your passport with the date of entry to the US and up to when you can stay legally in the US. When you get back to Canada you should surrender your I94 at the border and get a stamp of date of arrival in Canada on your passport. I am not familiar with the procedures for non-visa countries and territories.

I've heard that they share info with the US border but I don't know if that is true.  That doesn't mean that the IO's of Canada have that info on their computers, it could only mean that they could get access to it if they wanted to check up on somebody.  Now, where is the user immigration_officer when you need him? Maybe he would not be willing to give up his trade secrets though.

     Are you driving or flying? Canada doesn't put anything on your passport when you leave but i don't know if the US stamps your date of arrival. But why risk overstaying by two days? Just curious.

Hi there oh it was just because the flights were cheaper... I dont think they stamp ur passport but I think they scan it...

Hi there oh it was just because the flights were cheaper... I dont think they stamp ur passport but I think they scan it...

O so then there is a record but if there is no investigation of any type then I should think you would have any problem getting back in in the future. And probably when questioned just explain to the officer your reason for having done it. I don't think they are unreasonable.

I remember my Canadian husband used to cross the border to the States a few months ago and they never stamped his passport - just looked at it and let him go
