Hello, I'm a bit confused as to why CIC is requiring for photos.  In the immigrants guide, it specifies five photos but in the country specific guide and document checklist, it indictes eight photos.  Does this mean they require 13 photos for each member of the family?

Thanks for any help.

Hi Shelia,
From what I understand you will need around 8. Its because you will have to attach the extra photos to your medical I think that is why you need the extra three. WE still had one left over from ours and we were told we needed the 8.

Sheila, when there is discrepancy between the Immigrant's Guide and the country-specific guidelines, you need to follow the country-specific guidelines since these always take precedence. So if your country-specific guidelines say you need 8 photos, then you need 8 not 5 photos. The photos for your medical are IN ADDITION to the 8 that you submit with your application. So you need 8 that are submitted to the case processing centre in Mississauga with your application plus 5 for the DMP. Those 5 are brought in to your medical appointment at the DMP and given to them along with your completed Appendix C. You don't attach the photos to any documents -- just put them in a envelope. You need photos of anyone being sponsored (e.g. your spouse and any children) but not for extended family such as parents.

In addition to those photos with your PR app and your DMP papers, you have to submit even more when you receive your PPR. There is a funny thread here where members theorize what happens to all those photos...

I don't think that's a standard request. Most people, including my husband, weren't asked for any additional photos with with PPR.

My question regarding photos... I am the only one going to Canada. I have no children, and none of my immediate family (mother, father, brother) are planning to EVER move to Canada. Do I still really need pictures of everyone not on my application for sponsorship?

No, you don't. You only need pictures of yourself.

Good luck!

I only submitted 8 overall, 3 with my medical, and the rest in an envelope with the application. Then two with the PPR and two more yesterday when i got a letter saying they lost my stuff for my PR card -.-; I'd just start with what your country specific guide says, it should total up to 8 tho i think
