Hi Friends,
My wife is a Post graduate in mathematics and currently working as a maths lecturer at a engineering college. She is planning to do her P.Hd. from canada. I know that currently the work visa time is 3 years that will be alloted with the study visa.I have the following Queries:
1. For P.HD in Mathematics how many years of study visa is issued?
2. Can I (spouse) go with her?
3. Is there any scope of PR after p.Hd.? if yes how?
With regards
Harpreet Singh

Hi Harpreet,
First of all, please notice that in order to obtain a study visa,
You must satisfy an officer that you will leave Canada. Visit the local Web site of the visa office responsible for your area or contact their office to verify all required documents, before submitting your application.
So, I would advise you not to even ask about obtaining a PR after the PhD, since this clearly shows you are already thinking of extending your stay.
1. The study visa is generally delivered for the lenght of the degree. So if it's a 3 year program, she gets a 3-year visa;
2. Yes. I am not sure you'd be allowed to work there, but yes you can go;
3. In some, if not all, provinces, after she graduates she's allowed to stay for a period of time if she finds a job in her field (so that she can gain some practical experience), but again, under the assumption that she will leave the country afterwards;
