Petition Regarding the Singapore offices' business practices

So we have 62 sigs and a reporter from a regional Ontario newspaper says he will write an article about the petition if we can get over 100 sigs. Ok so it might amount to nothing or a wire service might pick up the story or the story with the petition sent to a gov't office might have some effect... really it's all about you never know unless you try...

I think it's fair to say that some offices have slower processing times as they are dealing with a higher volume of applications. Some do because they are dealing with countries that have historically had a history of abusing the system. Those are givens, but in the case of Singapore I really can't explain why they have such a huge wait time and more so why some people get answers and interviews months before people that applied months before they did.

Plus in the case of Singapore they are looking after applications from Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar (Burma), Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam its not like those countries have hoards of people lining up to Immigrate compared to many other places.

Also I have been to the High Commission office in SG and it is not exactly a hotbed of activity. It appears that there is only one or two people at most working on the applications which seems a little out of whack to me considering how many countries overall are submitting to them.

A few other people have visited and offered up the same opinion of the office.

All in all I just can't understand why they take so long... hopefully somehow an answer will be provided.

Most of the countries Singapore gets PR applications from are really poor, so there is an increased suspicion that people are willing to commit marriage fraud. Some of those countries need more time for background checks because of military problems. Plus they do not have enough visa officers there to deal with the number of applications. IMO, when CIC sees that one office has a ridiculously long average wait time, they should send more VOs there. Maybe they do, but you'd think could do more to get the average wait times a little closer to the world average.

Why does it take time? I mean if they have a history of having such a high rate of refusals I think it would be much more telling to see of the 23% that are refused how many of those appeal and win or lose said appeal? It might give a glimpse into whether they are doing their jobs well or not.

Which I don't doubt but I am curious if they suspect everybody (more or less) why not just do away with a whole bunch of long and involved background stuff up front call them in for an interview right away and put the screws to them I would imagine that most fake marriages would fail under the face to face interview process (or perhaps wishful thinking on my part) then the ones that are left that they still have some doubt about but think could be real put them through the longer background checks... just a thought.

Plus I am still curious using PMM's numbers I really wonder how many of those refusals are appealed and won at appeal.. meaning if its a high number the VO's in Singapore would be doing a pretty poor job.. .must be stats on that somewhere for those that know where to look
