Hi, I am a Permanent Resident since 2005 November. I am staying in my own birth country since the last three years of getting the PR status. My PR status expires on Nov 2010. I would like to ask :
1. I was informed that to retain your PR status one needs to stay in Canada for a period of 2 years within the five year period of the PR status. Is this true ?

Thats correct! It means you have to be back in Canada by the latest November 2008 and remain in Canada for the next 2 years continuously(730 days is the magic number).
