Permanent Residence Visa on Passports

Hello,
I had filed my Canadian immigration application from ***** Mumbai India. My application is at final stage.
My query is....I and my wife are currently located in US. Do we need to go back to New Delhi, India for our Interview and Visa stamping or it can be done in "CHC office" or "Indian Consulate" here in NYC. Or is it possible that my wife alone can go to India along with my passport and get it stamped. Is this legal or CHC office in New Delhi will create problem if only my wife is present there personally with both our passports.
Any help is appreciated.

I heard it is illegal for your wife to bring your Indian passport to India. For details, check out this recent discussion:
