I applied for the FBI PCC and Washington State PCC in the month of AUGUST 2010. Got both the PCC's in OCTOBER 2010.
Sent my initial application to CIO without including the PCC's in FEBRUARY 2011. I got my file number in MARCH 2011.
Will my PCC's still be valid if I send to the Visa office in a week?

CIC clearly states that PPCs should not be older than three months, so no, they won't be valid since over 6 months pasted. You will have to get new ones.

Thanks for your reply.

Are you sure about this? I have been told that it is valid for 1 year.

I say this because, I am not a resident of the US. I just lived there for an year 3 years ago.

However, I do understand that my local country's pcc is valid only for 3 months.

Please give me a clarification on this ambiguity.

According to their site yes...

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/intro.asp

I know it's quite a hassle. That's why I didn't send mine with the app. I will wait a couple of months and if I see that everything goes well and my app went to the visa office then I will start asking for a PPC every month to be sure   Grin

It is my understanding that for CIO purposes, a PCC is valid for ONE YEAR.  When you submit your PCC, it must not be more than THREE MONTHS OLD, even though it is still valid for another 9 months.  I wonder if this is where the confusion regarding three months is coming from?

Pippin, I guess that was the confusion.

I was in the US for 1 year(Jul'07-Aug'08) and after that I returned to my home country and never went again to the US.
If I got a clearance certificate about 6 months ago from the US, clearing me of any offense, for the period I was residing there, it basically sums up that its all clear. I wonder why CIC wants a more recent PCC then.

Anyway, that is something from the 'could-be's'

Thanks again:)

I've thought from the start that it is crazy having to supply additional NEW PCCs for a country you have never been back to since the last PCC was issued!  I just can't figure out the rationale.  Makes as much sense as having to submit them for all the countries you haven't been to!

Hehe..agree with you Pippin.  Smiley
But you know that there have been cases that the VO asked for more recent PPCs because the ones submitted were more than 3 months old by the time they received them.
Are we trying to find the logic behind their requests?
That's why I said that I will ask for PPCs once/every month after my app goes to VO. I don't care if I will end up with 10 PPCs by the time they ask for them. At least I will be on the safe side and ready to submit them. Because PPC e.g. from UK is ok and takes 3 weeks more or less. But from some other countries it could take far far more...

Just wondering why didn't you send the PCC's in the first place because you received them before you sent in the initial application?

HA HA, just what I thought originally, but if you saw me counting my fingers you'd know that ..... Nov-Dec-Jan ..... by the time he put in his app in February, the October PCC was already expired.  Well not EXPIRED, but not acceptable for CIO under the three month rule.  I think I would have been tempted to send them in as they are of no use in your own file and you will most likely have to resubmit new ones later on, so you have lost nothing.

Hi Pippin,

I have applied to PCC (India and USA) for me and for my wife.
We got our Indian PCC and included in the application (reached CIO-March 2nd).
I got my AOR that CIO Eligibility review complete and file will be sent to visa office for further processing.
Mean while I got my FBI (USA) PCC dated Feb 25 th, 2011.
My wife finger prints were rejected and I had to send again.
Her USA PCC is still pending.
What is the best thing I can do at this time??
Your suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi App:  sticky situation.....if you don't get your PCC in to VO by 25 May you will have to reapply for another one.  It is useless to keep it at home, so you may choose to send it to your VO with a cover letter clearly identifying your name, birthdate, NOC and file number.  Wouldn't it be wonderful if this coincides with the time the VO requests it!!  Hopefully your wife's PCC will come back around then, too.  Good Luck

Hi Pippin,
Nicely said.
I will wait for my wife PCC for some more time and will hopefully send both of our PCC to the visa office.
I would be lucky if all the things coincides (VO request, get my wife pcc before May 25th).
If not I need to send PCC's separately even if the VO doesn't request.
Thanks
