Hi ,
I was going through CIC website and got confused over PCC as it says
 "Who needs a police certificate?

In general, you and everyone in your family who is 18 years of age or over need to obtain a police certificate. You must obtain a police certificate from each country or territory where you have lived for six consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18. """

Now my question is :-
1) Do i need from each city where i have lived for more than 6 mnths in last 27 yrs (as i am 27 yrs old) or just from the city from where i am living from past 4yrs.
2) My spouse is living in other city so is it OK if we have PCC issued in two different cities.
3) I do not have city based passport office so is it ok to get it from local Senior Superintendent of Police. as website says "For districts other than the Punjab:
Applicants should contact the local Senior Superintendent of Police/ Superintendent of Police/ Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner of Police, the Additional Commissioner of Police, or the Station House Officer (Police clearance certificate issued by the Regional Passport Office are also acceptable. ""

Some one please guide

if u r living in India, then get ready for struggle,

first, you need PCC at Country (& not city or state) level, so only one PCC per person from India.

second, you can apply PCC at passport office, they say it should take 6-8 weeks (i think) but practically it takes 3-4 months if you keep visiting Passport office (& Commissioner's office), you are lucky if you know someone there.

you can apply for PCC directly to SP/Commissioner's office

you can apply for PCC to SHO also (Punjab residence does not has this option).

all the best...

Yeah normally it takes more time than they specify and i think you have to keep visiting the office till you get it.

I took PCC first for my wife from Passport office hyderabad, It took me  3 months to get it after visiting passport office 4 times and paying extra fees.

so i decided to take PCC from SP which was a bit easy compared to passport office. I am not saying all passport offices are like that, it was my experience with hyd passport office. all the best.

regards,
saleem
