I'm just curious-after you submit your passports to immigration, do they return them to you??

Definitely yes.  Your passport will be sent back to you so that you will be able to travel including traveling to Canada in order to land.

Passports are usually sent back to the applicant within a time frame of 2 weeks and sometimes up to 3 weeks.  It all depends on their back log.  But they definitely return the passport(s) to the applicant.
