If any one can tell me the validity of PP required (6 months or a year minimum) when the Visa office request for it. As my son's PP is only valid till July 09 and my Interview is waived and I'am done with medicals.

Pls reply.

There is no time limit, but the visa will only be valid for 1 year after the medical or the expiry of the passport, whichever comes first.  In your son's case your visas will only be valid to July/09 unless you extend the passport.

Dear PMM,

what about issuing a new passport?
because most of the machine readable passports are only replaced not renewed,
does anybody have any idea if we need to inform CIC with the new passport No. ?

best wishes

I guess you have to get a new passport (could take from 1 week to 10 weeks) depending on country.

my neoghbour's pp was abput to expire within next 4 months. he recd a direction from CHC-ND to get it renewed. they said that it must be valid for at least 6 monthswhen u r land in canada. so he got it and after that flew to canada. though his was a family sponsorship case, i think the same principle applies to us also.

thanks all for answering

it takes 2 days here, but the issue is the change in the passport No., do I have to report it, or will they just stamp my passport whatever the No. is?

thanks again
