hi folks,,,
I am a pre june applicant and after a long wait,my ecas status has gone into real IN PROCESS status and hopefully by god grace,visa may be coming in next 5 or 6 months.
the problem is that the passport of my son is going to expire on dec 31,,,,,,can it be a problematic reason in delay of visa as per CHC norms or shoulkd I apply for new passport right now and notify the CHC ?
thanx frnds,,,your valubale suggestions will be highly appreciated.

For a passport that is going to expire on dec 31, i dont think that the passport office would renew now. will have to wait upto July . Get your documents ready by July and then get it renewed. |

but I am confused as what wud be the scenerio if I get my passport requests in the month of may or june,,,,,,,dont u think I wud be left in confusions that time ? will the VO guide me for the next remedial step or I have to search it at my own ?

You are eligible for Passports renewal as it can be RENEWED if it is going to expire in LESS THAN 1 year. Please approach your passport office for more details. Once it is renewed, please send copy of new passport to your Visa Office to let them know. It will not delay your application. Also, Regular passport renewals might take more time and if you can spare more bucks, get it done through tatkal. On renewal, passport officer might ask "why Tatkal?" ... Just tell them you need it urgent for Visa stamping purpose. They will accept that answer. Hope this helps! |

Yes. Why wait? I did the same for me. My passport was to expire in Jun '12. I renewed it in Sept '11 and sent copies to VO. It saved me time later. I have already received my PPR. That proves renewal did not affect my processing time. |

Hi, I agree with you. Passports can be renewed when they are about to expire less than 1 year. Even I did the same for me. However, I was not applying for Canada PR at that time. Now a days, i think you can get them faster with PSB centers coming in India. Regards, Sharat Joshi |
