Dear Friends,
Can someone let me know what is the usual letter they will send for passport request? I have a passport which has only one line for the full name , and will expire in 2015. Will sending this type of passport be valid for CHC India or do I need to send another passport which has 2 lines , one for last name/surname and the other line for given name.
I am having this confusion as I read somewhere that passport needs to be of the type that has 2 lines for the name , one for surname and other for first name. Please highlight. Thanks .

Thanks Fariza. I think I will have to request for a new one with those specification. I dont know if they will give a new one . The main problem is I have all the full name in the same line and there aren't 2 lines for surname and given name. Thanks so much for giving the link.

U r welcome pratirajya... I hope you can mange to work out the needful within time... I think you better be hurry to get a new passport/Replacement passport with correction before you receive the PPR.. Its always better to follow the CIC guideline specially for the last bits of work at CHC and no one like to hang up long for this visa stamping stages due to a kind of problem with passport... All the best

Folks,

In fact I dont think the separation of the name ( surname, given name) is something critical as I don't think local governments will change their passport design to satisfy Canada immigration. There are hundreds of nationalities immigrating to Canada with different passport designs. I doubt that any of them will accept to change their passports design, at least Im sure for middle eastern countries.

Well Mejo.. you might be right indicating the generic nature of passport style in showcasing demographic data that varies between country of issue... if this is the reason then pratirajya  still need to try, chk and verify. If the style of writing name in same line is common for your national people then probably you can send your old passport with a cover letter outlining the issue... If any of your country mate earlier received visa with similar styled passport then why not you? But if the mistake deem made for idividual then you need to put all effort to either amend or get a new/replacement one.....

The problem is I took my passport in 2005 and at that time it was one line for the full name , but when my wife applied in 2009 she got the passport which has 2 lines one for surname and other for First name  , hence it is making me more worried as to what shall I do? Any way thanks both of you for your replies. Atleast you gave some time to share your views.
Thanks

If your country issues new passport that complies with the Canadian requirement, then you should get the new passport. For my country, this is not the case. Many of my friends had same passport as mine and already landed, or even became Canadian.

Cheers
