Passport renewal after sending in app?

Hi everyone,

I am just about ready (FINALLY!) to send in the application but just have a quick question. My passport is currently good through the end of January and I included copies of it as requested in the application packet.
I do plan to renew it but will it affect anything renewing it while my application is in process? Once I renew it should I just send them a copy of the new one?

Yes, as soon as you receive the new passport, send a scanned copy via email or webform. Or a hard copy via mail (I would do both!)
Before you send your application, attach a note to the copy of your current passport explaining that you will be renewing it very soon and will update the application as soon as its done.
