Hi,

I have newborn baby who i want to add to my fsw application. the VO says i should send among other things, a copy of his passport. my baby was not born in my home country so it will take a while to get his citizenship and passport sorted out.

My current status at my VO says "received by VO". I am awaiting the "in process" status.

does anyone think i should send all the requested docs and a cover letter explaining that the paspport will take a while to get sorted?

has anyone had any experience of this?

Dear ,

You should apply for the new born's passport atleast. You can provide the VO the receipt of the same. All this plus an explanation letter.I think the status of a person is said to be a resident if one of the parents are the resident of the particular country. As if u both are indians your baby automaticallywould  be an indian as of his resident status.

Thank you for your reply. I have already applied for my baby's passport but i know for a fact that in my home country the citizenship and passport process will take at least 6 months to a year. And i did not want to have VO waiting on me for so long to add new dependant.

This is why i'm wondering if anyone who has a similar experince would think it ok for me to send the other info and and explain that the passport is pending. Esp. since on the imm000 generic form i have to include the baby's passport details.

would you suggest waiting for the passport or go ahead and send documents with an explanation?

the passport itself actually only takes 1 to 2 weeks, however it can only be processed after the citizenship (by decent) is completed and thats the process which can take up to six months or more.

if my child was born in my home country i would by now be ok...
