Hi All,

I became a PR in May 2006.  I have been in Canada ever since (not a single day absent/did not even go to the US).  My passport expired in April 2008 and I have not been able to renew since the embassy responsible for my area is far away.  I do not have a valid passport right now, only the one I used to land (with the PR Visa in it and expired April 2008).  my questions are:

1. ) Is this going to be a problem?

2. ) what documents do i need to provide to prove i never left Canada since my passport expired ( I alwasy though an expired passport is proof enough since you can't travel on one)?  Am I going to be asked for this proof?

3. ) don't they have a computer system or database to track PRs going in and out of the country?

Thanks in advance.

I don't think this will be a problem.
If you renew your passport, there will be note in your expired passport somewhere, stating that it was renewed and/or cancelled. The old passport is likely cut on the cover.

Thanks for replying imigrate.  should i be preparing documents from the date my passport expired to the present just in case i am asked?  do you think they will ask for these documents at all?  if so what would be the best to provide to show that i have been here all along?  someone here said that bank statements are best, but what else could i use?

I might just be jumping the gun... but then again, i want to be prepared.

Thanks again
