Check medical travel insurance in your home country first.

OHIP does not cover everything, travel insurance usually include repatriation in case of emergency.

Hi diapep,

It is definitely possible to buy an insurance while already in Canada but in this case it will be activated after 72-hours-long waiting period, so it is wise to buy travel insurance before the trip starts. Travel insurance covers only medical emergency situations (fever is already an emergency), it does not cover, for instance, G.P. services as it is just a regular check-up. You can buy more options though, such as baggage loss, death accident and other options.

Here is the websites where you can buy Canada Travel Insurance on-line from Manulife Insurance, TIC, Travel Underwriters.

Another insurance-selling website, just in case if you will not be happy with the one mentioned above.

Good luck!

Well, it would be great while you will meet with your parents. Anyway, OHIP is not clearly available here and you should suggest them to check their medical purposes in your country first and finally they can fly without any harassment.
