I called CIC. Of course, they can't check the status of PR application. She told me, however,t hat Ottawa timelines depend on your country of origin. She said timelines will be exactly the same in Ottawa as in LVOs in your country. , thus, different for everyone depending on their origin. Don't know how true this is (taking into account how often CIC agents misinform us) but that's what I heard today. i think that CIC does not want to be sued or get complaints about discrimination and processing some cases before others... so call agents simply try to calm people down telling that everything is fair to avoid compaints...

I agree. I hope Ottawa can speed up the process. That's mission for the pilot project. CIC has all supporting document they needed, especially sponsors have been approved.

CIC already has a discrimination system. Each LVO has different processing time. Some in month, some in year range. We are all not being treated at the same way. treated based on your origin. http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/join-our-rally-on-oct-23-in-toront-for-equal-processing-timeparent-immigration-t54920.0.html

Its not as simple as that. If you had 100 visas to hand out but 10,000 of them applied how would you handle that? If its first come first served, then its is very likely that all visas would be issued people from 1 or very few countries. To be equitable, it would be better to assign quotas based on population size. This is why we see visas issued for Vienna (too few people applying) and NDelhi - or Singapore where things are moving very slowly (too many people applying). Either way, there will always be a backlog. The solution is to increase the quota, but that would be at the cost of other categories. CIC has promised to increase the quota to 25K. Lets see if they keep their promise.

this makes no sense and is no brainer.......the simplest way and logical way is to transfer files to visa offices where applications are low so they can process files faster.....see some files are transferred to Ottawa and in weeks medicals are sent and files transferred to New Delhi in January 2012 still no one has got medical!!!!!!! its a big question that Ottawa can ask for medical in weeks and new delhi or other offices dont even care to process......many applicants files are transferred to ND in Jan 2012 and now its 6 months and still no medical? .........great

Thanks for sharing this apple_talk. Really appreciate it. That means Ottawa applicants has to wait for 12 months from the file transfer date. Little disappointing timelines, but still better than 3/4 years.

Hi guys, Those who already ordered GCMS notes: can you please help me with completing IMM5563 form for ordering GCMS notes? I think the old form with Caips and Foss was a bit more clear and now I am confused as to what I am ordering.
I am hoping to order everything (electronic) that CIC has on my parents' sponsorship application (i.e. Mississauga part and LVO or Ottawa part, not sure where my parents file ended up). I would not mind to see the temp application part as well (just to have it for reference as my parents applied for visas multiple times)
1) Should I complete one form to cover everything or more than one form (i.e. separate for Mississauga portion and LVO portion)?
2) Which boxes I need to check under the section B in the Electronic file section? I can see that there are several sections there (the last one is for Citizenship files, not relevant, so I am listing the first 2):
a) Status of application (or reason for refusal) - asks for File # and Location b) Immigration file in Canada, with 2 options (Temporary residence, Permanent residence) - asks for ClientID, File # and Location
Should I check all the options (i.e. status of application, perm and temp?) Which of those covers the Mississauga portion and which part covers the LVO portion. Or is it all considered one file (with F.. number)?
Also, I only have MY UCI and my parents' file # (the one starting with F) Should I put my UCI where clientID is asked for or will it confuse them?
I am also confused why the word ‘overseas' only appears in the ‘Physical file' section. If I do not check ‘Physical file' section, will I get anything that is considered to be in LVO?
Thanks!

Yes. Only one form needs to be filled.

Section B: Only check on the "status of appln" and provide file num and location. leave the rest blank. UCI, client id etc is not reqd.

this makes no sense and is no brainer.......the simplest way and logical way is to ... The point you are missing is that there is extremely low number of visa compared to the num of applicants. So no matter what process they follow, there is bound to be backlog/delays. Yes, Ottawa is asking fo medicals, but medicals in itself is not a visa. Let us wait and see how soon they issue the actual visa...
