There is a lock-in date for dependent children.

See for example http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/op/op01-eng.pdf page 18:

Family class: Lock-in (of age) is based on the day that the responsible Case Processing Centre
(CPC) receives a sponsorship application. The documents downloaded to CAIPS from the CPC
will specify the lock-in date.

If age is a factor that makes an applicant admissible, officers should use the applicant's age on
the lock-in date. As long as they are the right age on the lock-in date, they can surpass it before
admission.

See also http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/op/op02-eng.pdf page 8:

The lock-in of age for dependent children is the day CPC-M receives a completed IMM 1344AE
and correct processing fees. Dependent children must be less than 22 years of age when the
sponsorship application is received.

and page 15:

5.13.
Who qualifies as a dependent child?
R2 and Section 6 in this chapter describe who qualifies as a dependent child.
In order to meet R2(b)(i) of the definition of “dependent child”, a child must be under 22 years of
age and not a spouse or common-law partner on the date when the IMM 1344AE is received by
CPC-M, and not a spouse or common-law partner when the visa is issued, and when they arrive
in Canada.

thats right but i was just telling him that dependant cant stop studying until his/her sponsorship is approved  Smiley

Hello Kandel

But my application have not yet been approved.
Hii hmm so u r student here i m not an expert but as far as know you being in canada should not effect your application until you keep your study continue...not sure if they will still keep you as dependant after getting  work permit  Roll Eyes you should talk to good immigration consultant  Smiley i will strongly recommend you to stay as student until sponsorship is approved and 2008 applications will be approve by this or next year

If you read what I wrote above, you will see that as long as you were under 22 when your parents applied for theirs and your immigration as their dependent child, your age is locked in and you remain a dependent child as long as you don't get married or enter into a common law relationship.  If you are studying in Canada, you will also have other opportunities to immigrate if your parents application isn't working out.

Sorry if I got it wrong but this how I understand it:
If the dependant is under 22 at the time CPC received the complete application, but reached 22 when the additional documents was required, the dependant need not to to show proofs that he is in full-time studies since there is a lock-in of age? And also, he would still be under type A of dependent children?

That is only true for somebody who is already over 22 when the parents apply for them.  Then they are a dependent child only because they are a full time student and must stay a student and dependent on the parents.

If they are under 22 when the parents apply, their age is locked-in so towards immigration, they still qualify because of that, even if they are not studying anymore.

That's right.  If immigration asks for proof of full time studies, you kindly point out to them the manuals I quoted above and tell them that because your child was under 22 when the application was made, their age is locked in and they do not need proof of full time studies.

hi i submitted my application in jan 2012 still nothing. i think they  skip the dependent files or may  process it on later. its merely my guess there are now so many members who receive nothing after submission of documents they all have dependant in there file
