Alas! Got acknowledgment letter on mar 29,2012. wonder when e-cas will change?
Docs submitted: jan 10
Docs re-submitted: feb 23
AOR received: mar 29. Letter's dated Mar 19 though
e-cas shows 2 lines saying "Application received".
Wonder when e-cas will change and how would i know where does the file go?
This is still better than no change at all! Did you have something missing and had to resubmit? THe status will likely change soon again (at least that is what other people have experienced) By the way, did you get your acknowledgement letter by mail or email (looks like you mean mail)? Did you provide your email address as well but they still sent mail? I am also wondering whether they send those acknowledgement letters to all or just to some people randomly :-)? |

I got a letter today, too. It says that my application was received on Feb 02 and that it is determined to be complete and also that it is put in a queue for a review.

I got my by mail even though I provided email address/ The letter is dated March 18 but was mailed out on March 26.
My situation same as sibnadian i got regular mail, even though i gave e-mail; The letter's dated mar 19- i got it on mar 29/2012. |

an update: I just got an email that says a weird thing
it is addressed to me but says
"this confirms that your application for permanent residence in Canada has been received by Citizenship and Immigration Canada on 2007/12/20"
(this is the date of my original sponsorship application, not sure why they call it 'permanent residence application')
there is also application number starting with F... (rather than Kit ID that they used on previous communications). They still referred to my UCI though.
They do NOT mention any date that is close to February 14-15 2012 (which is approx when they should have received my additional documents i.e. IMM for my parents etc)
Those who received their acknowledgement letters by mail - do those letters refer to the date of your original application (i.e. 3-4 years ago) or to your recent document submission?
So, I am wondering whether at some point they would send another acknowledgment letter for the documents sent in February?
Any insights anyone?
(my online status has not changed yet - still one line and the file number in the email is not yet recognized in the online status form, but it will probably get updated on Tuesday only next week)

Did they explicitly say that ADDITIONAL documents were received (and mentioned a February 2012 date) or did they refer to your original application date (i.e. in 2007 or 2008)? |

Wow Anik, seems like your was already sent to the Ottawa or your country office and the file for your parents was created. Congrats! Even though they received your app on Feb 14-later than mine. I didn't even get a letter that i am approved as a sponsor.

i think that cic explicitly says if sponsorship application is approved... if the letter does not explicitly say that the sponsor meets eligibility requirements - it is not an approval yet... |

No, that is not possible - I think it is just an indication that they touched the file (I actually suspect our file may go to a local office rather than to ottawa :-(W e had a lot of local documents to submit,e.g. related to past marriages/divorces etc so I suspect maybe they will not want to deal with this in ottawa and decide that local knowledge is required.. Another thought why I got this email today is that possibly they finally dealt with some emails I sent to them earlier and did some updates in the system and it generated some kind of acknowledgement. I sent an email to them in NOvember pointing out a spellign mistake in my name in their records (which I only noticed when I got the document request from them in November). The email I received now shows the correct name spelling (will be interesting to see if the name on the online record will change to correct after Tuesday - no change so far) |

Anik, it is still interesting they referred to the file that starts with "F..."
I also have lots of documents in my file. We shall see...Good news for me is that they said my file is complete, which means they are satisfied with the document I submitted for my mom in lieu of her marriage certificate that we did't have.

That is an interesting suggestion regardign status check - I just tried and it still did not work. But since they are updating the online status system once a week and I just got an email an hour ago, the update (if any) will only happen next week. Will keep updated. If anyone else experienced anythign like that - please share! |
