Parents Immigration from India to Canada

Hello Everyone,

 My husband and I are both Permanent residents. And I am now applying for my parents immigration as well. Just wondering what are the timelines these days? I am hearing it is taking more than 7-8 years. Is this true? Also, my husband is going to be the co-sponsor for my parents immigration. I am curious if he will be able to apply for his parents as well 2-3 years down the line? or will we first have to wait for my parents case to be completed?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The avg timeline i recommend you consider as true, firstly parental reunion are not considered priority so they don't rush where as spouse and dependent children are, secondly you have to meet LICO throughout the entire sponsorship period so as of today its 47 mths working on apps received on september 11, 2007 and thats stage 1 approval and then you have to add the India processing time an additional 32 mths so appx 4 yrs for 1st stage approval and apprx 3 yrs for 2nd stage gives you your 7 years, if you plan to file for both set of parents do it same time as you would be required to meet the LICO even if your parents gets landed here so save time and just do it together

Thank you both. Can you please clarify few more things for me.

I sponsored my spouse in Nov 2009 and he landed in Canada on 26th March 2010. As far as I understand, for me his undertaking is still in effect. So while filling up the financial evaluation form should I answer question 3A as 2 (for my parents) and 3B (i) as 1 (for my husband)  and the remaining parts of 3 as 0 (for I never sponsored anyone else)?? question 4,5 and 6 are all 0s. then answer 7 should be 4 right? myself, my husband and both my parents?

Also, in this case what should I fill in as the minimum necessary income?
At present my husband is working part time and I am full time.

You are correct.  The Minimum Necessary Income is for 4 persons - $28,315 for yourself and your husband, plus $22,499 for your parents (2 persons over 18) for a total of $50,814 per annum- from the time you sign the undertaking until your sponsorship is successful.

Please help guyz!

I'm filling out the financial eval. form as well to sponsor my parents.

I was sponsored by my wife (landed last year) and she is co-signing this app. to sponsor my parents now.

Hence, for Q2, You - 1
               Q3 (a) - 2

But the dilemma is where to fill in option stating that her undertaking is still in effect as she sponsored me.  I can't select 3(b) (i) as I did not sign any previous undertakings to sponsor (my wife signed to sponsor me!)

I would think the most appropriate spot would be Q4 (i) but it's clearly specified  - Do not include persons already accounted for in 2??

I'm definitely not reading correctly.

I think total number of family members would be 4 - My wife, myself, Parents for LICO - $41,307 but my total is coming out to be 3 as per Q2 and Q3. Please HELP!!!
