I applied parent sponshorship back in 2008 for my mom and my brother was under depedent, it was stuck in mississauga so long, suddenly i got a letter from them i need to fill up permamnent residence form, i remember i already fill up that back in 2008, letter asked me to fill up Generic application form IMM0008 and also IMM 5669

1. Is anyone got this type of letter to fill up again
2. My dad died and i support my mom and brother since 2006,Back in 2008 my brother was under 22 and also studying in university, as a result he was dependent on my mom, now he graduated and over 22 and looking for job, my concern if i fill up the form again should i put my brother as a dependent, if i give how i can proof he is still dependent on my mom, can any one please help?

My brother (sponsoring my mom and I, as a dependent child) got the letter, too. I've been gathering information like crazy because it really is very confusing. Just so you have an idea, I called the Embassy here in my homecountry (Brazil) and they didn't know what to tell me, I had to send the scanned letter to them and they said they'd call back.

In any way, as far as I can understand your PARENT and their dependent child are the ones who need to fill out the forms and you have to send them to Mississauga. For what I searched, these forms are the ones they used to send to you after they approved you as a sponsor, and then you'd have to send them to your family and they'd have to fill out and mail to their nearest Visa Office for processing. BUT according to the recent news about the Family Class Sponsorship, they are speeding things up, so now you receive the forms, your family fills them out and gather documents, send to you and you send to Mississauga. Looks like the Visa Offices in other countries aren't working on them anymore, or at least not for the time being.

I read that they opened up a new office in Ottawa to work on the backlog, so after Mississauga reviews your family applications, looks like they are the ones to send to their nearest Visa Office or to the new office in Ottawa

As for your brother, his age is locked in the time you sent their application in 2008, so all he needs to do is not be married and still live with your parents and everything and he should be fine, no matter if he's over 22 now.

Got the same letter in the mail today. Glancing at the checklist, it looks like CIC wants me to submit the appliacation documents.... again  and make sure I send it back witin 90 days! Sponsorship docs were submitted to CIC back in December 2007. I'll call CPC-Mississauga tomorow and get some information on what this letter is all about.

The forms and checklist are for YOUR PARENTS to fill. They fill it out, send to you and YOU send to the immigration.

I got the same letter three days ago. What a surprise! I thought I had to wait at least five years for the first letter. I applied for PR for my mother back in 2008 and never heard anything from CPC since then.... I also need to help my mom gather all the documents and forms, and yet excited.

I'm hoping that I do not have to to wait for another 8-10 years from now!!!! I'm dying to reunite with my mother and I am praying every single day!

just same as you all i recived the mail too, working on the collecting documents and everything, talks to one of the lawyer and they were surpriced as well as its recenttly just started now,

just like info 123 i have problems as well,

in 2008 i submit the file and my brother was 24 years, he has to prove that he is still dependend on my father, and he has to show the continious study from the time he turn 22. so lets hope everything goes well,

hey my sister also filed for our immigration back in 2008...we got a letter from the canadian immigration saying we have to submit the immigration forms ( imm0008 etc) . At the time when my sister applied i was 22 years old and studying in medical school, financed by my parents . Now that we have received the approval for submitting the application, i recently graduated from medical school , and am in the process of doing my house job for board certification for our country . I'm still dependent on my parents . do i fall in the criteria of the dependent chilren or not ?

As far as I know, your age is locked in at the time of the first application (in your case, 2008), so you mustn't worry as long as you're still living with your parents and not married.

Hello Everyone

Some lucky people got this letter,who submit file in 2008.

whoever got this letter filled out the forms(as per Cheklist ) sent to your parents,make sure all the forms signed and Get it back in canada.

Pay the Fee Right of parmenant Residant(landing fee $490 Each person,not for below 18 years old). Sponsorer has to pay this fee in canada.
In Fee Recipt write sponsorer name,client id number and address (canada Residant address)

Tell your parents to start process for PCC and get it and keep it,because CPC-M dont need right now PCC.They tell you when they need.
send your file to cpc-Mississagua.
Everything is good they send your file in your country.
If everything is ok your parents just wait for getting medical.

We haven't declare our non residency yet(just moved last month) but planning to do it soon. What should we do?

I believe you have to be in Canada in order to sponsor. But I might be wrong, I KNOW that you have to be in Canada to sponsor if you are a PR yourself.


BTW, can anyone share their Parent Sponsorship timeline? It would be most appreciated, I'm very anxious ;(

Corret - you must be living in Canada to qualify to sponsor a parent (it doesn't matter if you are a PR or citizen - the rule is the same). If you are no longer living in Canada then unfortunately you should expect the sponsorship application to be refused.

Since everyone in same boat as me here, I have questions for you all for Form IMM008 in the form they ask  about the intended occupations in the Educations/ occupations detail, not sure what should i say  for my parents as my dad is Farmer but have master degree in Business and Mom is housewife, from the ask I think they are asking what they intend to do once they come to Canada right ?

i know we dont need to send work for our parents Bcoz we dont know yet
