Is there anyone out there who applied for parent sponsorhip between the  2004-2007 who parents have actually gotten their landed status.  My reason for asking is because when you check the status online it shows that application for this period is being processed.  My daughter filed for me in october of last year and I was just a bit concern with whether or not the backlog is actually moving.  Especially in light of Canada's response to the Haitian situation maybe parent sponsorship may be pushed back even further.
Any thoughts?

Hi,

Parents, grand-parents sponsoring is not in the priority like spouse sponsoring. I think you are too early to think about their decision and perhaps you may here some news before this October.

and after that I assume 2 years for my dad to apply for his PR from back home.

We submitted the sponsorship application to Mississauga in October 2005.  The sponsorship was granted in late 2007.  My parents just completed their medical exam last December but we haven't heard anything from the embassy yet.  Hope to get good news soon.

When the sponsorship was granted in 2007, how long did it take for your parents to send in the forms?

Did it really take from end of 2007 until end of 2009 for CIC to assess their PR application?

Wow, that's longer than I anticipated (2 yrs, hoping)...

Hi,

I mentioned about this topic some where else also.
Normal time line for parents varies on different visa offices. Still, an average time line of 5 years ( approx) may take from the submission of  sponsoship application.

If you need detailed time lines try to see trackitt.com > Canada > all offices > parents/grand parents.

Hi vonster:

My parents submitted 2 months after the sponsorship was approved.  The local embassy (Manila) started processing in Feb 2008.  They received notice for medical and passport request last December.  No news as of yet.  Timeline below for reference:

Oct 2005 - sponsorship request submitted to Mississauga
Dec 2007 - request granted
Feb 2008 - application submitted to local embassy (Manila)
Dec 2009 - notice for medical and passport request

My Father-in-Law was sponsored by his daughter. The e-case status is showing "we have started processing on 07 January, 2008". Now how much time it may take?

Hi,

The time lines on PR processing are different on various visa offices. You can just make a comparison study on here:

trackitt.com/canada-immigration-trackers/family-class

wow applications sent back in 2006 seem to be done much faster than now i guess
my apps received july, 2007, until now nothing on Ecas.

It'll prolly take 3 yrs for just the sponsorship - stage 1 approval...
and then it'll take 2 more years for the PR application...

i guess eventually it'll get done !!!!
