Hi, just wanted to get some feed back from others.  My mum's PR application was logged in April 2006, whilst she was in Canada with me.  We still have not heard from them regarding the status?  Does anyone know how long they are taking to process these visa's?  She is now currently out of the country as she had to leave Canada this year, what will be the process if this PR is granted and she is still out of Canada?  Or should I say what is the process after PR has been granted?  Many Thanks and look foward to your replies.

Have you sponsored your mom from within Canada (via Vegreville CPC) or overseas (via Mississauga CPC)?

There is no In Canada class for parents.  It would have been mailed to CIC Mississauga.

You need to advise CIC of her current address and telephone number so they can contact her if/when they require further information.  Leaving Canada will not be a problem.  Do you know yet if you have been approved as a sponsor?  Check ECAS to see what the status is.

I agree with you that there is no "In-Canada Class" for parents. As you may know there is, however, an H&C where the sponsorship is one of the factors in support of parents' application. Some people would consider this way to sponsor their parents from within Canada on H&C grounds.  That's why I asked about Vegreville.

If it was filed via Mississauga CPC, I would call CIC 1-888-242-2100 and ask about the status of this application. As of today, the CIC is processing applications which they received up to January 2007 http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/canada/process-in.asp

Thanks for the replies, yes it was lodged from with in Canada, whilst she was with me.  She was with me all this time up until this year where she has now left Canada.

Yes I have been approved as a sponsor and now just wanted to know how long does it take.  It's like 3 1/2 years already since we first lodged the application.  Many Thanks

SHARNA, did you send it to Vegreville or Mississauga?  We need to know that in order to help you with your question.

So there is NO harm that she left Canada because it will be processed through the embassy dealing with your country's region.  You can ensure they have her current address by checking ECAS.  If they don't, follow the links to change it AND send them an email to update.  You might want to send them a fax too!
