Hello Pakistani family,
I have a question if anybody could answer. I have made it to US last month on L1 - work visa lasting through September next year (1.5 years in total).

The job is good and everything but I would like to live with my family in Canada rather than here alone. So, I am thinking about applying for federal skilled immigration visa. My question is: Can I apply from here and select New York or buffalo as my processing office (these 2 are the nearest options for me)?

I read it on the immigration website:
Determine which Canadian visa office is responsible for:

    * the country in which you are residing, provided you have been lawfully admitted to that country for at least one year; or
    * your country of nationality.

I am hoping that the first point means, I should have a visa for over a year to stay in US rather than I should have stayed in US for a year before I could do that.

What do you guys think? Am I eligible to select US as my processing office or not under these circumstances?

Applicants can apply in the country in which they are residing, provided they have been lawfully admitted to that country for at least one year.

You must be admitted for one year in order to apply. It does not mean that you must have lived there for one year before you apply.

Three confusions concerning Visa Office ISB requirements..!!

1) First clause of Educational docs section states "Post-secondary education documents: vocational or technical certificates or diplomas". As per my understandings, Post-Secondary is education after secondary, means it does not include MATRIC, which is a secondary level education. This clearly indicates that Matric degree is not needed here. Plz negate if i am wrong.

2) There is only one time word ORIGINAL mentioned in whole Educational docs section, which is for TRANSCRIPTS. I believe everything apart from transcripts is notarized copies. Plz confirm.

3) First clause of Work Experience section states "Notarized employment contracts from your present and past employers, accompanied by an English or French translation". I reckon they are asking for notarized COPIES not original, as originals do not get notarize to lose credibility. Plz confirm.
