well one thing is for sure in your case that u need to plan each n everything if u r landing here without relatives,i dont know at what stage u r standing in immigration but if u r approaching the Finish Line then my advice to u will be:

1.Start Job hunt as soon as possible, the best thing would be to land here with some job offer, if not then try to find out what r ur chances of landing in a job,is there any exam or certification the canadian employer wanna see when they look at ur resume,if that exam or certification can be done in Pakistan, just do that, dont delay, try to look for the jobs in remote areas(underdeveloped areas like North west territory, yukon, nunavut, newfoundland, new brunswick) in these areas u have best chances to land in a job.Do not come to canada with family keeping in mind that u will do the odd jobs and will survive with the family , its impossible,if possible try to send ur husband first ,

2.Rentals are almost same everywhere in canada ,no matter u live in a remote area or in a metropolitan city like toronto, rent is same, try to look for rentals through kiljii and other websites.

3.Its very very hard nowadays to even get an odd job, canada is facing recession, its not over, there are always 4-5 people lined for a single odd job,so even odd jobs have become competitive. It will be very hard to get an odd job within a month,it can take more than 2 months beofre u start ur first odd job.

4.As u land in canada ,start calling the Immigration assistant agencies which are located in every part of canada, they help u but do not over-expect from them, they can assist u within certain limits and then u have to deal with the situation urself.

I am living in canada, just remember one thing that now that u have demolished everything back home, accept canada as new home and try to work ur way out of the bad situation, once u get settled here  then ski is the limit, u will surely start enjoying ur life ,so have patience, dont panick and plan ur canadian dream smartly.

Recession is everywhere in the west specially in North America, the situation is worst, last year they didn't even spend a lot on Chirstmas, this is worst after 70 years. Jobs, specially those that don't require technical knowledge are scarce. Jobs like sales and marketing or any other that are revenue generating are welcome all over but administration, finance, IT and others that are cost centric are less in demand. I suggest and urge guys moving specially to Canada to start doing their own ebusiness by the time they get a job. People in Americas and Europe make millions selling stuff on Internet. I know many Pakistani lads doing the same sitting in the confines of their homes. This is the best you could do in this RECESSION aka Alami Kasaad Bazaari...

1-about availability of any certification/diploma etc which could be useful in canadian job market I'll check in lahore...and u know in present situation it is not easy to get job offer from canada when living in pakistan.
2-I am not at the finish line I just got my first AOR and have to submit my documents yet.Actually my husband is the principal applicant.
3-In case of family going alongwith or not.I dont know if visa issued to us will have any certain time limit etc.
4-and could u pls tell what is meant by odd job??

Odd Jobs mean working at Bars, Restaurants, Superstores, Gas stations or in community centers. These jobs are low level jobs also known as blue collar jobs, or labor jobs such as "mazdoor" here in our society. Best odd job is security officer very much unlike our security guards but a rather peaceful odd job.

Hi all Seniors.

My family consists upon 5 members (3 Children). I applied thru FSW catagory under fast track. I belong to Pakistan. My medicals date is 24th Nov.

I have some equerries which need your expert opinion:

Initially i shown Pakistan Rupees 2.25 Million(equivalent to $38,000 CAD ---
1 $ = 60 Rupees) in my account as balance. Now, i read on blogs that, Embassy demands, Bank statement / proof of funds for 03 or 06 months while requesting for Passports. But due to devaluation of our currency within 06 months, my bank balance reduced down to $28,500 CAD (1 $ = 79 Rupees).  That is a hard fact!

1. Should i have to arrange more money to show them the earlier declared amount? As for a family of 5 members, funds required are about $25,000 CAD. You do not need to raise your funds level to 35000 CAD. If it is $23871 CAD, you show only this much!

2. After medicals, Embassy demands, Bank statement of 03 months or 06 months or more time period? Maintain balance in your account. 3-6 Mo. You will anyway cross six months before you get your provisional acceptance Letter.

3. Is there any other documents, certificates, Papers, Proof, etc is required after medicals but prior to Passport request? If they need any, they may ask you, as the background checks keep going even after the medicals till call for issuance of visa.

4. After landing, we come back after 05-06 months. Can we go back after, say, 4 1/2 years to continue the PR requirements? Please read the  Canadian Permanent Residence and/or Citizenship requirements in relevant section of www.cic.gc.ca for clarity on this issue. In my opinion, you will bust both PR and citizenship requirements if you plan to visit after 4 1/2 years (i.e. you will loose right to enter Canada!!!!!!)

Your valuable reply is awaited please. I suggest that you post such queries on main forum so that all other viewers can benefit from it.

Dr. Noreen,

You could fill in the forms etc with forum's help but in my humble capacity, I would for you suggest that you should use a consultant (I can recommend some real expert with low fees). The reason for suggesting you this is the fact that IO can make your case complicated for the evaluation purposes and some consultants know better to handle them.

Hot_lier and other experienced friends, what do you say?

Regards,

MAnj
