Its very cold over here, in last 10 days the sun was out for just one day and the rest was just dark, cloudy, raining and damn cold. Shanbaba you must reconsider your plan of landing in January, they say that the month of January is month of Snow Blizzards and storms. Aah but you are landing in vancouver, i have heard that the temperatures are not that cold and it hardly snows over there. But its most expensive city to live , have you done some research about rentals etc Huh

Can anyone guide me about the question of Visa Office for UAE.

In the initial application FORM IMM0008 GENERIC, the question is "VISA OFFICE Requested for the process of your application".

I checked from the website Visa office coming for UAE residents for Skilled Worker class is London. Is this right, i will mention London against this question.

When i will be called for interview then ,i have to go to London for that purpose?

Waiting for prompt response dear.

AOA Dear All please have a look on the recent news release by CIC:

News ReleaseGovernment of Canada Tables 2010 Immigration PlanOttawa, October 30, 2009 — Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, tabled Citizenship and Immigration Canada's 2009 Annual Report today in Parliament.

“While other countries have cut back immigration levels as a short-term response to the global economic downturn, our government is actually maintaining its immigration levels to meet the country's medium- to long-term economic needs,” said Minister Kenney.

“Canada plans to welcome between 240,000 and 265,000 new permanent residents in 2010, the same number of immigrants as in recent years. In 2010, Canada will again welcome more new permanent residents than the average annual intake during the 1990s,” said Minister Kenney. “The focus of the 2010 plan is on economic immigration to support Canada's economy during and beyond the current economic recovery.”

In particular, the admission ranges for immigrants nominated by the provinces and territories have been increased. Provinces and territories are in the best position to understand how Canada's immigration intake can be aligned to their labour market needs. Second, by increasing the admission ranges in the Provincial Nominee Program, the Government of Canada is helping to ensure that the benefits of immigration are distributed across this country. Canada and the provinces will work together to manage growth in the provincial nominee program. Increasing the total number of immigrants processed under the economic category will also allow CIC to continue reducing the backlog of federal skilled worker applicants as part of the Action Plan for Faster Immigration.

Although the Action Plan has been in place for less than a year, early indications are that it is paying off. “People applying now under the federal skilled worker program can expect to receive a decision within six to twelve months, compared to up to six years under the old system,” said Minister Kenney. “We've also brought the backlog of federal skilled worker applicants down from over 630,000 to 425,000—a reduction of more than 30%.”

The backlog consists of people who applied before February 27, 2008, the date the Action Plan took effect.  Since then, almost 240,000 people have applied to the new federal skilled worker program under the Action Plan. But even with those additional applicants, the total number of people currently awaiting a decision on their application is still 12% lower than when the Action Plan took effect.

“Before we changed the system, we had to process every application received. Since many more people applied every year than could be accepted, a backlog was created,” said Minister Kenney. “Now that we are processing only those applications that meet specified criteria, our Government is making significant progress in reducing the backlog.”

Improving the federal skilled worker program is part of the Government of Canada's overall commitment to modernizing the immigration system to maximize its contribution to our overall economic growth.

“The Government of Canada will continue to work with provinces, territories and stakeholders to make sure immigration meets the needs of communities, employers and families now and in the future,” concluded the Minister.

BackgrounderUpdate on the Action Plan for Faster Immigration
Hundreds of thousands of people apply to immigrate to Canada every year. The Government of Canada selects immigrants who have the skills that match Canada's labour market needs and a better chance of realizing their dreams of success in Canada. Despite the economic downturn, Canada still needs foreign workers to fill shortages in some regions and professions.

In 2008, as part of the Action Plan for Faster Immigration, the Government of Canada made changes to the way we select skilled workers. Applicants in the federal skilled worker category must now meet a set of eligibility criteria before they can be processed. The criteria correspond to Canada's economic immigration needs. If applicants don't meet the criteria, they are not processed and their application fees are refunded.

The changes were made to meet three main goals:

Reduce the backlog of applicants in the federal skilled worker category
Reduce wait times
Improve labour market responsiveness
Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has made significant progress toward meeting these goals since the first set of eligibility criteria was issued on November 28, 2008.

Reducing the backlog
When the criteria took effect on February 27, 2008, more than 630,000 people in the federal skilled worker category were waiting for a decision on their application. As of the end of September 2009, this number stands at just under 425,000, a reduction of 33%. This reduction is significantly higher than planned as the Department had originally forecast a 33% reduction over five years.

Approximately 240,000 people have applied since February 27, 2008, and are subject to the new eligibility criteria. Of these, about 135,000 have not yet received a decision on their application. Taken together, the current number of applicants in the federal skilled worker category (those who applied before and after February 27, 2008) is now 12% lower than when the criteria took effect.

Since February 27, 2008, the changes brought about by the Action Plan allow CIC to limit the processing of federal skilled worker applications to those that meet the eligibility criteria. Because not all 135,000 people will meet the criteria, not all will be processed.

Under the old system, every application had to be processed. Now that we are no longer obliged to process every application received, the key factor leading to backlog growth has been eliminated. At the same time, the backlog of applicants who applied before February 27, 2008, and who are not subject to the criteria has stopped growing, and will continue to be drawn down over time.

Reducing wait times
In the 2008 budget, CIC received additional resources of $109 million over five years for the implementation of the Action Plan. With these funds, the Department created the Centralized Intake Office in Sydney, Nova Scotia, which is helping to reduce the administrative burden on visa offices abroad and free up their resources for processing.

As a result of these and other changes to increase efficiency, under the Action Plan, people get an initial idea of their eligibility within months instead of years. Within this time frame, applicants who meet the criteria are instructed to send a completed application for processing at the visa office that serves their country of origin. Applicants who don't meet the eligibility criteria are not processed and are issued a refund.

Before the changes were introduced, federal skilled worker applicants waited as long as six years for a decision on their application because of the large number of people in the processing queue. People applying now under the federal skilled worker program can expect to receive a decision within six to twelve months.

Improving labour market responsiveness
The eligibility criteria established under the Action Planreflect Canada's labour market needs and were developed in consultation with Human Resources and Skills Development Canada, provinces, territories and other economic experts. This means that skilled workers are selected based on their ability to work in Canada, either because of arranged employment or prior experience in Canada as students or temporary foreign workers, or as professionals in one of 38 in-demand occupations.

By the end of September 2009, more than 8,000 visas had been issued to federal skilled workers who responded to the criteria and thus to an identified Canadian labour market need.

On January 16, 2009, the First Ministers agreed to provide for the timely assessment and recognition of foreign credentials through the development of the Pan-CanadianFramework for the Assessment and Recognition of Foreign Qualifications. The Government of Canada is developing the framework in partnership with the provincial and territorial governments.

Quotes from the CIC Release of 30th October, 2009

Quote
Approximately 240,000 people have applied since February 27, 2008, and are subject to the new eligibility criteria. Of these, about 135,000 have not yet received a decision on their application. Taken together, the current number of applicants in the federal skilled worker category (those who applied before and after February 27, 2008) is now 12% lower than when the criteria took effect.

Since February 27, 2008, the changes brought about by the Action Plan allow CIC to limit the processing of federal skilled worker applications to those that meet the eligibility criteria. Because not all 135,000 people will meet the criteria, not all will be processed.

Does this mean that the overall quota for 2009 has not reached?

Also, have a look at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/publications/annual-report2009/section2.asp

Here you will find that in year 2008 only 8052 Permanent residents in all classes were admitted from Pakistan. We are at number 6 and countries like China(29,336), India(24,549),Philippines(23,724),USA(11,216),UK(9,243) are infront.

This may be the reason that CHC-ISB has issued all the visas allocated to them and therefore are not sending out any new PPR.

However, as the new plan is out, they may get some sort of relaxation and again start sending PPR emails.

Pray hard as we need more and more prayers.

@  MRS, loved your post. only one comment about your G1 license written test. if you show them that you have prior experience in driving on a valid pakistani license (which i assume you do), you dont need to attemp the written test anymore and you can directly attempt the road test. its an experience of a few people i knew who immigrated and did the same. see if this works for you too.

 @  JA77

Currently every one has to give G1 written test and then if you have licences of home country you can directly apply for G road test and can get the full G licences. If you do not have licences of home country then you have to wait for 8 months after passing G1 written test and then you can go for G2 road test and after that G road test. So dear although I have Pakistani licences I have to give written test and this G1 written test is very simple and I have passed the practice tests available on net.

Dear Bro Hot (I always call you only hot!),

I hope you did not use the same name (Hot-Lier) in the immigration forms which led them to ask for (permission/verification) signatures from your spouse Smiley)) Its' a matter of trust, man:))) Do I have to declare that it was a joke? Smiley)))

CONGRATS...You are inching towards your flight day by day. Good Luck.

Manj
