Hi,
Today was the first day in canada, i went to service canada centre and told the lady at the counter that i have landed yesterday and want to get my SIN Card. She asked for passport and landing paper, entered the information in computer and then asked me to wait. After around 5 minutes my name was called and i was asked to proceed to desk no 9 there the guy asked some questions about name of my parents and members in family etc then he printed a letter and gave it to me . The letter had my Social insurance Number and the actual card will be delivered at my place in 10 days , thats it i was out in 15 minutes.
Then i went to TD Canada Trust , to open the bank account . This is the only bank in canada which is offering one year waiver of monthly charges for newly landed immigrants. Yes guys in canada you need to pay monthly fee to the bank to maintain an account and you have limited access to the account as you can make limited transacions in one month depending on what kind of account you open. So the TD Canada Trust offer one year free account and the indian lady was very freindly she proccessed my account in 20 minutes. I was just sitting as she completed my form , deposited my money and prepared the Debit card and handed over to me, she also gave lots of advices of how to build credit history in canda so that we can have credit card etc.
Thats all for today
don't forget you have to pay for incoming calls as well, first country in my life have been to more than 30 countries. On my first day at university when I was told that I have to pay for incoming calls, believe me I just looked at the face of customer service agent and then a huge laugh(we are more devolved in technology) and telecommunication services is worst than a pind in Pak.

Hello, everyone, I am here after a long time. Where are Manj, rao, Hotlier, ahmezd etc? all gone to Canada? or still sitting and watching towards CHC? Anyway Best of luck for all. I have an inquiry plz seniors reply me. I did F.A. and B.A. private then I did B.B.A. and M.B.A. from a university. I have come to know that I can't apply for immigration bcz immigration department doesn't consider the applicant who did any degree privately. Is it true? Please reply me.
If your last degree is regular and from recognized University from HEC. You will be awarded points on the basis of that degree..........I am also an example of it . I did FA and BA privately and then MBA as a regular student from recognized university. I allready got approval from CHC. Dont need to worry in this area.

Hot-lier bhai, thank u very much for ur reply. I was really worried abt that. yes i did MBA and BBA from a HEC recognised university and yesterday I got stamped these from HEC. I read abt ur medical. I am worried bcz u r a sincere person who is always ready to help others. Although I am not sending messages here but I resumed reading this thread. Good news that Rao sb has reached toronto. I am double minded abt applying. some say go to Austarlia, some say Canada is best. confusing. I am above 45 so i think cant go australia under skilled class?

Yes you are right dear telecommunication over here is very expensive and you have to pay monthly charges on your connection whether prepaid or post paid and there is incoming call charges too. I have not decided which package to go for as all are very expensive just missing pakistan where we can get any SIM without any charges and bundles of free minutes

Hi every one Today i.e 18th october 2009, i landed at Toronto Airport, the immigration process was smooth and simple , i went to the counter and the officer asked for the declaration card, i told him that i was landing and he asked me to proceed to immigration counter . Over there the officer just asked me the address where i will be staying and how much funds i have brought with me . i told him i have CAD$ 11,500/- he wrote it down and asked me to sign the COPR then he stamped the passport and attached the copy of COPR with my passport and thats it. The entire process lasted for 3 minutes and no further questions were asked. I went for collecting my luggage and then went to the customs officer he asked me what i was bringing with me i told him just my personal cloths some house hold items, a laptop and digital camera he said fine thanks and you can go. Thats it. I was disappointed to find out that they charge 2 dollars for trolly and they return only 25 cents when we return the trolly at their place , if i knew it i would have just left the trolly at the car park MRS Congratulation on safe landing to MRS, Ra00 and Imrann. May all of you have a happy and blessed life in your dream country.
