Salam everyone,

I found this useful resource after painstakingly googling the net to look for relevant information about my queroes. I must appreciate all the participants who are putting their heart and soul together to put together such a wonderfful knowledge management system.

I am 27 years old Pakistani living in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. I sent my initial application for me and my wife to Nova Scotia on Oct 11, 2009.

-Depending upon your experiences, how soon can I get a response from them?

-As I am living in Saudi Arabia, how can I get the photocopies of my documents notarized here? Did anyone do it in Saudi Arabia? Is it even possible? Please share.

-If anyone obtained Police Certificate from Saudi Arabia, please share your experience.

Thanks and Reards,  kaafmeem

Hello all,
A couple of questions :

1. What does AOR signify, does it mean one is fit to apply in a certain skilled category?
2. Does proof of funds need to be in liquid assets (cash, bonds etc.) or can your fixed assets such as land or car etc could be included depending on their market value, the reason I am asking this is I own two cars which I plan to sell to generate the required funds, so what options do I have ?

I would appreciate a response from the experts.
Regards

1. AOR = Acknowledgment on Receipt. It is in no way an indication or conformation that the person is fit to apply in a certain category. As per standard procedures, the VISA office has to send out the acknowledgment upon receiving the application.

2. CHC-ISB normally consider Bank Balances as proof of funds.

I hope this helps

So when it is said the initial application can be rejected and application fee is returned, what could be the reasons of rejection if appliccant suitability is not assessed before AOR? the reason I am asking this is because a consultant told me that he will refund his fee if my initial application is rejected?

Visa Quotas:
The 2009 plan includes up to 156,600 immigrants in the economic category; 71,000 in the family category; and 37,400 in the humanitarian category.

This I have taken from http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/media/releases/2008/2008-11-28.asp

My question is do they count One Visa per family or Multiple Visas for actual number of family members.

In my opinion as the principal applicant is one they should count it only one visa per family. Seniors please share your input.

Any idea that this quota is for the visa offices or just for the categories? because i have seen two post for passport request from London Visa office.
