Dear Umair

I think the call was not from CHC. If it was to be a verification call, the guy would have surely asked quite a few questions about you from the receptionist / admin manager. Moreover, he would have talked to your boss who signed your experience letter and confirmed your JD as well.

Verification call examples they can ask a single question:

Quorax
A strange thing happened with me.  I have not received the 2nd AOR yet nor my ecase status has been changed.  But the CHC Islamabad has telephoned at my workplace and confirmed only , ..
''Is this the xxxxxx institution, we are speaking from Canadian High Commission Islamabad. (after getting confirmation) the caller said, "" ok We will contact you later.)

What does it mean?

Dear Sir,
Its not a joke.  Always remember CHC Islamabad calls at your work place, not the London one, if an applicant is from Pakistan.
They simply verified the name of the institution and said to contact again in future.

CHC London just called and talked to telephone operator in our factory in Egypt. They just asked about the name of the mills and whether I am working here or not.
One thing to be noted that the number they called was not the one given on the visiting card of my boss which I gave them. It was the land line number given on the company website and letter heads.
I asked the operator again he clearly told NO JOB DESCRIPTION VERIFICATION AND NO JOB TITLE VERIFICATION just the call.
Ecas Status is still Recieved by VO.
I think they have started something.
Regards
Salman

Any concerned either Gora or not, can call at the workplace.  There is no fix criteria, besides, they can call before or after the MR if they find it necessary

Dear All,

My office received a verification call it not known from where as our office CLI is not working.

They just asked they want to talk to Mr. ........ A foreign National accent (Gora)
then the my office person replied  that he is on leave and out of town, and gave him my cell number

Then He verification guy said thank you we will call him later.

did any one else received a verification call?

Verification after medicals  Shocked now thats a new turn Smiley ... what they guys are up to....
I heard they verify only from the person who signed your experience letter i.e. your immediate boss in most of the cases or the person at HR.... Now if they are calling receptionists and disclosing that it's a verification call from embassy.. this would easily reveal your future plans amongst the people in your company with whom you do not want to share your plans.... as it reflects you are not interested in staying associated with current company and U are looking for alternates.... this could affect your future promotions etc.. as well.... strange but have to live with their processes...

Initially, I started applying for any Finance/Accounts/Banking job, but soon realized that for these kind of jobs employer requires a person with Canadian education and experience. Then I started looking for IT jobs as I have CS degree and experience in IT , as in IT your skills counts. I joined a software company in July 2011 exactly 4 months after landing.

Before that, i didnt had any kind of job till end of May (almost 3 months after landing). I was running out of funds so, in Last week of May I started an odd job in Toronto where i worked as a clerk, opening large boxes and doing shelving. Did this job for 5-6 weeks.

Regarding things to be done before landing, In my case they didnt gave me much time, as my visa validity was only for 15 days, so I had to rush. If one has time, then he should explore job market in Canada and work to build his/her resume as per the Canadian employers requirements.

Search jobs on these following websites and see their requirements and job description and prepare yourself accordingly.

Regards,
Muneer

BTW I am still waiting for PPR 1 since last more than 8 months dont know in last time i should i manage to wind up all the matters over here for e.g. my job as we have to serve one month notice period....

As per your advice i am planning to enroll myself to csi to start the course of CSC. What do you suggest should i take the PRC and get back and will move after 5 to 6 months and in this time period will complete my CSC certification online from Pakistan and complete my home work before final landing?

Very strange, what if you are working in big org, where letter head has only head office address and you are not located there.... as in my case our reception comes under security dept. and if somebody calls reception and asks for me, they won't be able to give any clue as we have our official mobiles with us on which our all contacts are supposed to call and visitors are also not allowed in our vicinity so they dont keep employee records except Directors or above.. they have to transfer call to HR... and as someone mentioned they plainly refused to get transferred to anyone else....

Anyways.... they are not dodos... they must have alternates also, if didn't get any satisfactory response or they felt the person they are talking to is not relevant
