I don't support that either but, Canada is famous for being a welfare country and the highlights are medical, schooling and child benefits. They don't pay these from their pockets, it comes from the tax they collect from the public and then return in terms of benefits. You will pay tax on each item you buy and each $ you earn. When someone from working class of 3rd world country reaches there and is jobless or gets a low paid job, I am sure he will take all the benefits available and he should. Hope others will not take any of the benefits.
You are right, but if you start with a frame of mind that the govt. Will take care of my kids that is wrong. If things donot work out as you plan then by all means use the available options like govt. Support, but please do not immigrate with the intention of claiming support for your family from the govt. Its due to such people that candians are being forced to tighten their immigration rules, and people like you and me who are waiting for immigration suffer.

you got it. this is the formula. make more kids there and get their benefit and you will be happy for the rest of ur life. make 10-12 kids and get theri benefit and u will be millionare.. Look. What I understand is that, these social benifits are to support those people who are not yet settled. Onse you are settled, and get job, these benefits are recduced and even recovered in the shape of tax (Please correct if my understanding is wrong). This gives a very logical and justful design and it trsuts the people to make their best efforts to get settled and start contributing (rather paying back) to the society at their best and at the earliest.

Waisay mazaydar bat yeh hey that how well the 'positive side' of getting benefits from govt, without any effort, is highlighted. .... none of us is raising queries on how to get job etc.. very well discussed points in few last posts and just to add on it, not only in those countries, we are known as 'intelligent' people to misuse facilities, then it can be anything, from social services to stealing coke cans from machines... unfortunately this is how we brought up... I don't know but many of us must have crossed the law limits for preparing our docs, specially PCCs, kyon kay police muftay main to kuch karti nahi

Please see the first line of my comments that is " I dont support this" , but it is a normal case in canada that highly educated immigrants are taking survival jobs which dont pay to have a good life, in that case people can take govt support to provide better life to the children instead of letting children suffer.

Agree with Khalid. Tax rate here is 13% on everything except food items which are exempt. Regarding Child benefits, Govt dont give you on day 1 of landing in Canada. One receive credit in his/her account after completing 3-4 months in Canada. First payment is a total of 3-4 months. This is very helpful for a newcomer and in my opinion this gives a hope that someone cares you in this new country and it gives motivation to stay in Canada and work hard to improve his standard of living. As I remember, 3 months after landing, I was running out of funds that i brought from Pak, and i was thinking to go back to continue my old job, but when i receive this amount, It gave me hope that YES, I can stay 2-3 months more in this country and can fight more and try my luck to get settled. You are right Khalid, govt dont give anything from their pocket, they just distribute the taxes among people which is good. One can claim max/full Child benefits (around CAD 450-480 per child) if his previous year earnings is less than or equal to 20,000 Canadian dollars. If some one has earnings more then 20,000 his benefits will reduce and keep on reducing as income increases ...... I know one guy here who is living here for the last 6 years and now he is earning more than $90,000 yearly, he has two kids and he receives only $150 for both kids. Govt gives $100 per child every month till the age of 6. Rest of the amount depends on the income. One cant be a millionaire just getting this child care benefit as it keeps reducing every year and only low earners get this benefit. In my opinion, remain as a low earner just to receive this benefit wont give you good life in Canada. Just take auto insurance for example. Car is a MUST thing here, and auto insurance for a new driver is CAD 400-500 per month. For a low earner, Its very difficult to buy a house/Town house/Condo. So in order to enjoy all these things, one has to earn more and as you earn more your benefits become less Hope this helps Regards Muneer

But contrary to this my friend landed last year asked me how many kids i have, when i said i have two. he replied those who have more children their life is good as you will get their maintenance allowance. As my cousin who has 4 children who used to receive CAD 1400 for their children maintaince allowance and his rent is 300 CAD as provided by govt. and as per them the children allowances are enough to live. the income of both mother and father are their savings.
Rent of 300 CAD? Surprising. I guess he must be compromising quality of accommodation. I should cost from 800 to 1200 for a reasonable accommodation. Comments from other are required on this, please.

Hi Everyone, I have received this parcel from CHC London informing me that I should wait for further processing in 6 to 12 months' time. They have also sent me back my original documents. I had sent them my result cards with my original documents as Punjab University delayed the issuance of transcripts in sealed envelops. Later, I got the transcripts issued and payed the Punjab University Lahore to send these in sealed envelops. But I have no proof whether the university ever sent my transcripts to CHC London or not. CHC never acknowledged the receipt of these transcripts. Anyhow, now they have sent me my original result cards but no transcripts. Can someone tell me please why have they retained the transcripts? Does that mean they never got them? Or do they keep them for processing? Kindly enlighten me anyone if u know anything about it.

Don't worry it normal. Sometimes CHC keeps some of the documents. did you send your original transcripts through PU or just photocopies. BTW when did you send full documents to CHC LDN, whats your NOC and when your processing was started.
