Hi all,

A strange thing happened to my case. I submitted documents to CIO in May 2010 and received first AOR in October 2010. In February 2011 I submitted complete application to London VO. Since then I did not heard any thing. Few days ago I send them email for status updates of my application. I received two emails from London VO. In the first one they said they have received my documents and put on file. Today I received another email in which they said my file is in Sydney and I should contact them.

My ecase status shows Received by VO.

I do not understand what is going on. Any body guess what is going on?

Faisal

Dear Madam / Sir,
This is in response to your email. We have not received documents to include your wife.
We acknowledge receipt of your correspondence informing us of a change in your family composition due to marriage.

Your spouse will have to undergo a medical examination. We will send you the appropriate form upon reception of the documents listed below.
In order to add your spouse to your application, we require the following documents:
•   processing fee for your spouse (if accompanying you to Canada)
•   notarized birth certificate of your spouse
•   copy of your spouse's valid passport
•   recent photographs of your spouse according to the specifications
•   a notarized “no” criminal activity certificate for your spouse
•   a completed application kit with all the requirements
•   updated IMM0008 Generic and updated IMM5406 “Additional Family Information” form for yourself.
•   a “Certificat de Sélection du Québec” for your spouse ( in his or her name), if you wish to immigrate to the province of Québec (http://www.micc.gouv.qc.ca/fr/index.asp).
Copies of the original documents with original certified translations into English or French are required. All documents must be sent to our office by mail.
Application forms, fees schedule, payment methods and photo specifications are available on our Web site: www.cic.gc.ca
We hope this has been of assistance.

Dear staralihaider,

Below are two replies.

Email 1 dated December 02, 2011

Dear Sir/Madam,

I applied under Federal Skilled Worker category and CIO initially approved my application through below email dated October 12, 2010. I was instructed to submit complete application with documents to London VO which I did in February 2011. Few days ago I sent an email to London VO for updates on my application and in response received two emails.

1- Email dated December 02, 2011: They have received my documents. Below are the wordings of email

"Dear Sir/Madam,

This is in response to your enquiry.

Your documents have been received and placed on file. No further action is required by you at this time.

Unfortunately, it will take longer to process Federal Skilled Worker applications submitted under the first set of instructions (between February 27, 2008 and June 25, 2010) than originally projected.

During this time, the department received applications for more than 425,000 people, and 144,000 of these have not yet received a decision.

This number represents more than twice the number of projected admissions under the Federal Skilled Worker program in 2011, so many of these applicants will have to wait two years or more to be processed.  Because they reflect Canada's current labour market needs, applications under the most recent set of ministerial instructions are processed on a priority basis.
Our office sends immigration decisions and information requests by post or by email to the mailing and email addresses provided in the application. Therefore, it is important that our office be notified immediately of any change of address and contact details.
We thank you for your patience and for keeping your correspondence to a minimum.
Yours sincerely,

Client Service Unit (KLH)"

Email 2 dated December 05, 2011

Thank you for your enquiry. Your file is still in Sydney.

Please contact CIO Sydney for information regarding applications sent to / processed by their office: FSW-Sydney-Search-Enquiry @ cic.gc.ca

fareeha,

I can tell you that they sent me passports with immigration visa and COPRs. The COPR document is a very important document, make sure that the  visa and COPR has correct information. Some time some fields are shortened due to space constraint and this is nothing to worry about.

Good Luck!

fareeha,

You are allowed to take as much as you like. However, there is probably a restriction in taking cash beyond a certain limit out of Pakistan. I would suggest that you do the following.

1) Take appropriate amount of landing funds as you go on your initial landing trip to Canada. Split it into cash, say US$9500 and the remaining in form of a bank draft of say $20500. Making sure that you declare it as you land in Canada.

Once in Canada open a bank account and then:

2) Do 3 telegraphic transfer of remaining money in Pakistan. First send less than US$10,000 say $5,000 from your Pakistani bank account to your Canadian bank through telegraphic transfer. Once this is completed without a problem then proceed to transfer an amount greater than US$ 10,000, say US$ 20,000. Once this is completed then proceed to transfer the remaining through bank transfer.

I suggest this because of 2 reasons. First, it is my opinion that it is far safer to transfer money through banks than to handle larges sums of money in cash. Second, because a lot of countries are suspicious of money movements from Pakistan, therefore, it is good to try out transferring money in small lot before doing a large transfer of funds.

Fareeha
Good suggestions by Dr Who. Just add that if u do not have account in canada before landing, use Travellers' cheque instead of DD due to time issue in credit.
For restriction of carrying money from Pakistan, better check with any travel agent. From UAE, it is CAD 10,000 per person

Regards,
Thanks Dr Who for detailed suggestion,
I just visited the following website .   www.settlement.org       It says.

If you bring more than C$10,000 (or the equivalent in another currency) into Canada, you must declare the amount when you arrive. You must fill out form Cross-Border Currency or Monetary Instruments Report - Individual (E677) [PDF].

If you do not declare it, you may need to pay a fine or face other penalties. You are not taxed on the money you bring with you when you land.

You can bring money into Canada in the form of:

    * Cash
    * Securities in bearer form (for example, stocks, bonds, debentures, treasury bills)
    * Negotiable instruments in bearer form (for example, bank drafts, cheques, travellers' cheques, money orders)
    * Transfer of funds between your bank and a Canadian bank

Now this C$10000 limit is for a single individual. If we are 5 members including spouse and children than our limit should be under C$50000 and if we carry C$49000 than do we have to fill the CBSA form ?  (it is not mentioned any where)
