Hi!

Dear from this information it seems he is a pre june 2010 applicant? When did he apply? From your info I guess he might have applied in 2009 or 2008? Right now there is very much uncertainity whats going on in London office? Some people are receiving emails that their cases will be delayed and priority is given to Post june 2010 applicants. I am not in a position to predict anything. The best thing is he should write to CHC London and ask about his status.

Thanks

These days many 2009 applicants status changing to "In process". I hope he can expect medicals any time but best thing would be if writes an email to London office because some of old applicants like starlihaider and some others received emails that their NOCs (like 4131) is put on hold and priority is given to post june 2010 applicants and their nocs (29) are given priority.

AoA Lala je, extremely informative posts sir! It's really heartening to see you helping new comers! Lala je, I have a question, since I intend to land in Alberta, could you tell me if there's any program like OSAP in Alberta? One more thing, I am also an engineer with 3 years of industrial experience in Pakistan and now doing full time masters. I have heard that once you're in Canada, you ought to get a Canadian qualification, else you can't get any good job... is this true? I am doing masters already won't that be sufficient to fetch a job there?

Thanks in advance

Very useful info. Can you please share some more details.
I think in the begining, it is difficult and will take some time to get job according to your field or education. I have also heard that our highly educated immigrants are driving taxi's in Canada coz it very hard to find job. In the early months after moving there, how much earnings one can expect for survival from an ordinary job. What is the minimum wage in toronto/ canada and are you allowed to work more than 40 hours?

This is fact that highly educated immigrants choose taxi as their profession in Canada but NO ONE CAN START DRIVING TAXI until one gets proper DRIVING LICENCE FOR TAXI. Which is not as easy as getting the G type. You need more money to invest in licencing for even a PLATE (some times it costs you hundreds of thousand dollars).

What I could undrestand is that our doctors, enginers or highly qualified immigrants faces educational incampatibilites upon their arrival and hence don't find reasonable job in their field and furthermore, their kitchens (including all monthly charges) force them to think for paying apportunities. Taxi is one of them which pays you more than a reqular job!

Yes! you can work more than 40 hours but do not expect that any single employer will ask you for overtime untill that business has overtime opportunities. This is what you manage by finding part time jobs etc.

Mininum wage in Toronto is around CAD$ 11 (minus/plus). You can find a rough calculations of monthly expenses in my past post.

When you ask anyone in Pakistan (from Driving Authority) then you find that you have (first) one month to drive in Canada but infact, this is I think not true (or maybe if you have just visit visa - not sure!). In short! To drive in Canada you must have Canadian D/L.

With valid pakistan driving license, for how long you are entiltled or they allow you to driver a car in Canada? Despite that, I am sure insurance will be very expensive.

A little correction! Minimum down payment has been raised to 10% now. Government is making house owning more difficult in Canada but in Saskatchewan.

There are many factors involved in buying an appartment or house. it depends upon the location/area. any way you can buy an appartment immidiately after arrival BUT for that purpose you have develop your credit like when you get your credit cards (including your spouse) credit will start developing and after an year or so they will check your credit history if it is good your case for mortgage will be approved. thereafter you have to pay minimum 5% down payment rest of the cost will be borne by the bank.. atleast you should have $15000 to 20000 in your pocket to pay as down payment and legal cost. you should also have some income source like full time job to get your mortgage approved. the prevailing market price of 3 bed rooms town house in surroundings of toronto ranges from $300000 to 500000 again depends upon locations.Hopefully this information would be enough to understand the procedure of buying an appartment in canada.

take care

three months ago my relative bought a townhouse in ajex area and he paid 5% down payment. it is still 5% please check with your agent however the mortgage period has been reduced (i think from 30 years to 20 years "not sure") as a result now the per month installment rate will be enhanced.

Yes there is a similar students assistanceship program in Alberta as well but since i am settled in ontario therefore i am not fully aware of such programs you can visit Alberta government web site for the purpose. As for as pakistani degree is concerned surely you can get good job BUT it depends upon your luck and smartness. I have seen many pakistanis who got good jobs in canada on pakistani degrees specifically in engineering profession. My advise would be to improve your qualification and get Master degree from canadian university. Insha Allah you will not only get a good job but you will also be qualified for registration as Professional Engineer with Canadian council of Engineers. otherwise with pakistani degree you will have to work under a professional engineer for one year and pass a professional practice exam to become a  P.Engg. however you can be registered as  engineer-in-training till completion of one year tenure. If you are civil engineer than MSc in transportation engineering and environmental engineering will be good options for you.
good luck

Dear bro...
now close that topic ...........i appreciate pitta's response.
I have already explained the engineers registration process in detail please see above post. No i am not registered as professional engineer as i have not completed the one year requirement i.e to work under professional engineer in canadian firm.
Improving your qualification (advance degree) in your own field is better than doing MBA.

Dear sir,

I am also a civil engineer and applied in 2009. Recently, my status also changed in to "in process" and I am waiting for medicals. The good news is that my friend, who is also a civil engineer, got MR last week. Therefore, I am positive to receive the same soon.

As your friend has similar timelines, I can accurately predict for him as well to receive MR soon.

pitta sahib... a friend of mine who is civil engineer his status has been changed from RBVO to in process last week. tell me what would be the next step. now he will receive medical papers or still he has to wait for months. he is in saudi arabia and already informed london office about his present job and posting.
need your guidance
thanks in advance
