I have been hearing stories like that for some time now, some good and some bad experiences. A good friend of mine got his visa, went there, got his PR Card and came back after few months and reason is that he did not wanted to quit his good job in Islamabad.
Another friend, got immigration and moved there. Lived in calgary for 2 years, wasted lot of money and came back and advising me not to make this mistake like he did.
Stories like above are really causing confusion, dont know what to do. Another family friend who lives in calgary told me that its just about barely surviving. Well, if its just about barely survival, then are we not better-off here?
Those who could afford, they managed to came back coz they will get help from the families and will be back on their feet again but for most of us, we have to burn our bridges and there will be no turning back for us.
I do not want to disappoint any body here but grass is always greener on the other side! I hope you know what I mean.
Dear friend, As per my experience, your profession also plays a major role, I mean people who are in fields like IT, teachers, and engineers (Electrical, Electronics) gets job in their respective fields quickly and are successful here as they do not need to study further. And people like Accountants, bankers, Doctors, etc struggle here.
If any one wanted to come here should plan first, I mean do not come without planning or thinking that they would get a good job soon ... For example, say if an accountant wanted to come here should do some certifications like ACCA/CMA/CPA before coming, only having MBA is not enough because without these he/she need to study Accounting here and it may take 2 to 3 years and after that there is no guarantee of job.
Doctors come here have to pass some exams, I heard 3 of them and each one costs between 1000 and 2000 dollars. After passing these all three exams they can get govt job of around 50k yearly which they need to do for three years. So doctors prepare themselves to study in Canada to pass these exams first.
I know few well educated people from Pakistan came here 10-12 years back struggled initially but now they are well settled. They didnt find jobs in their field of interest and started driving taxi/trucks to survive and become used to it and after some time they find themselves in a situation where they cant go back again.
I might be wrong but this is what i observed in almost 10 months after landing.
Please comment, if any one knows the situation better then me and correct me if I am wrong. I think this will help all our Pakistani brothers who want to come to Canada for better life.
Good Luck to all.
