Because of financial issues, my fiance plans to remain in the US and work while he pays down some of his debts once we get married. So that leads me to think that an outland application will work best for us, but heres my question.. I saw last week that processing times for Buffalo are about 9 months, but he only plans to need about 6 months to pay everything off. After we file the Outland application, is he able to come here and wait out the rest of the time with me? What would he tell the Canada Customs officer when we arrives.. that he's applied for outland visa sponsorship and he's just here to visit? or... what?

I'd just like to know if that's even an option before we make a final decision to do either inland or outland. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

In Buffalo 80% of cases take 9 months or less so it is possible that he will have his PR visa by 6 months.  However, if he doesn't, he can still come and visit you.  Just say that he has applied for sponsorship and has come to visit his wife.  He should not "visit" with a U-haul full of his stuff though, that is just asking for trouble Wink
