I have read the average time on the CIC website, 16-18 weeks But on the FBI website, it says up to 6 weeks
How long did other people's police clearance take? I'm just curious because I'm currently waiting on mine

I think that's really an exaggeration. For me, the problem was more so the mess-up with my fingerprints the first time. I went to a place and as the guy was doing my prints, he had a frown on his face and said he doubts they'll be accepted, they're so bad. He decides to give me a second card of prints due to this doubt, but keeps frowning. I mailed them and waited *I believe* between 1 and 2 months (I'm not sure), and got the rejection. The second time, I went and explained the situation to a different place, one that said they'd do a free set if I got rejected. They took prints of all the digits on a random sheet of paper just to gauge how well they came out and then asked me to buy a tube of Cortate and apply it several times a day for a week and to wear gloves when doing the dishes (I just avoided dishes in general and had my husband do them). That evidently helped because I was approved the second time (the processing by the FBI was shorter as they had my cc info - not charged the first time - on file and I guess because they had already dealt with me earlier - it took about a month, I think.)

A month would be nice. I'm not really expecting mine soon...just sent it out a little over a week ago...been working like crazy on our application though, and once I get the police clearance back, Im going to get my medical and send everything off to my husband asap. Then we wait.

Mine took just about a month. They charged my card on 8th Feb and sent it back to me the second week of March. It was the last thing I needed for my application and I was so close to sending it without, but very very glad I waited. In fact, it arrived on my birthday! What a gift eh?

When I ordered my FBI check in November, it took 6 weeks, with the website saying they take up to 12 weeks. At the time I didn't realize they were only good for 3 months though. So I just sent off for a new one and the site says 6 weeks - it would be nice if they shaved off half of that again!

Yea I saw that it will only be good for 3 months...that's why I want to send the package asap....does it just need to make it to Mississauga(sp)? Or to Buffalo after that?

It has to be good when it hits Buffalo, but it's only in Mississagua about a month, so you should be good if you send it right after you get it.
I did just find on the us2canada site if in the notes you put it's for Canadian Immigration and a due date, plus put on the envelope the same, it might speed things up. I did put it's for Canadian Immigration both times I sent for it, that might be why it came faster than the site said before.

Check out the thread "Please post your FBI request times" for various timelines. Ours took 4 weeks. http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/please-post-your-fbi-request-times-t38827.0.html

I'm waiting on my FBI clearance now, then I can get a medical exam done within a week after that....then sending everything off to my hubby...I don't want them having to call for meds/police cert. I've read that it just slows down the process even more

So you DO have to have individual state clearances for states you lived in since 18?? I saw people arguing about this on a thread (not sure if it was this forum) and I decided to hell with it because the fact that it was not on the instructions anywhere was good enough reason for me not to bother with it. Why did you decide to get the state records, just out of curiosity? I lived in Illinois and the District of Columbia since age 18. Honestly, I don't even know where to start looking for that....plus I've already mailed the damn thing in. FYI , I had submitted my FBI clearance certificate after 4 months of submitting my application along with Michigan State police clearance certificate.
