Anybody who has opened a scotiabank A/c while in India?  Could you share your experience.  The time it takes to open the A/C.  The exchange rate we get when we transfer the money; the net exchange when you include the charges for the transfer.  I am beginning to feel that DD/ TC/ cash might be better than the scotiabank A/C... would love opinions from anybody...

I am not experienced with the main subject you have asked.

When you take DD  it may take too much time to get enchased, check the same with your resources. So either take TC  or other bank documents if it is easily transferable.

Is Scotia Bank in to Retail banking in India?
How about opening account with SBI or ICICI Bank as both have branches in Canada? Has any one explored this option?
