Hello, I came to Canada studying Ph.D. in Medical nuclear and bio-radiation with a study permit this August. I want my wife to apply an open work permit. (My wife is a nurse with a Bachelor Degree in Clinical nursing. She has been worked for 3 years in China now, and we have been married for only 4 months before I came to Canada.) However, I did not see any information about the needed application materials and procedures. Does anyone know it? Thank you very much.

She should apply to the college of nursing in the province where you plan to live. After assessment, they will decide if she's eligible to take the Canadian RN exam or not.

your wife has to get a job first. The prospective employer will apply for LMO, if approved, then work permit. But i doubt if she will be able to get a job as a nurse without passing the exam because nursing is a regulated profession.

tell your wife to inquire from CANADIAN EMBASSY in China if your'e eligible to apply a Spouse open work permit for her. She needs to submit her application there in China & it will be processed there. She just needs to submit some document of yours, your marriage contract & some other proofs of your marriage, anyway she can inquire all the requirements from the embassy. Cheesy
