Open work permit and study permit?

Hi everybody,

I'm in Canada as a visitor under my wife's student permit, I recently applied to the open work permit, and I just received a acceptance letter from a masters here in canada. If I get the Open Work Permit may I ask for the Study permit and hold both?

Hi PMM,

Thats what I though either, but I called to the immigration call centre and they said I could...  That's why in the other topic I'm asking about the R186(l). Because I was confident that i would not be able to hold both. So I would try to work under the R186 while I hold the study permit... Do you think thats a good idea?
