ontario college of teachers :query ?

hi seniors,
i got my PR and plan to land in april to ON and apply at ontario college of teachers for basic certification which requires SIN for registering , so this means i have to land first and then apply unlike bcct.ca and education.alberta.ca

1)my question in how much time SIN is generated ?
2) and can it be generated even if i m in india by requesting CIC?
3)and when i am here who will manage the documents to be send to college directly from university?

i cant tell university to send it now as i am not allowed to register till i cum thr
My university is guru nank dev university , amritsar .

can anybody who is a teacher in Ontario or has applied comment on this..

For most people it takes less than 15 minutes to get the number, the card turns up later (in the mail).

2) and can it be generated even if i m in india by requesting CIC?

No, you do this at Service Canada in person.

 my wife is PR  main applicant and if i let her land first and get her a sin no. so that i can do the requisite behind.

as the college wants a verification letter specifying no. of hours course study which my university does not provide..
will need extra effort as it seems system is not that clear about sending verification letters

for sending documents(degrees and marksheets) university has a procedure
but not for verification letters

If I was in this situation, I will print out this page and send it to the appropriate person at the  university. I dont understand why the university cannot provide verification, perhaps you have not contacted the right person. You could also read this guideline and see how it is applicable to you:
