One question about Home country PCC.

My friends in my home country, China, helped me get the PCC, but I just have the notaried PCC, no original one.

Does everyone have a original PCC from your home country?

Thanks.

You've got to check the current DMP list and call for rates. You'd be surprised with the range. I traveled from NC to NJ to save a few hundred $. Here is my post from a year ago.

Does any one know how much for the application fee in US dollar?

I can't find the difference between us dollar and canada dollar in Buffalo's website?

http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/buffalo/imm/fees-frais.aspx?lang=eng

Can I get the certified check with the ammount in canada dollar from Bank of America?

Thanks.

But the currency rate between us dollar and canadian dollar is 0.94769.

Why should I pay more? Why is there no update in Buffalo's website?

I recently received my AINP nomination and preparing my CIC application. I had a question about fee payment. Can we pay the fees in either US or Canadian dollars? I've read a lot of conflicting information about this. The Buffalo consulate website says US dollars are accepted and fee schedule here:

Fees in Canadian dollar: canadainternational.gc.ca/buffalo/imm/fees_frais_cad.aspx?lang=eng
Fees in US dollar: canadainternational.gc.ca/buffalo/imm/fees_frais_usd.aspx?lang=eng

I wanted to make sure if anyone has sent the fees in US dollars recently without any problems. Thanks.

to cover the daily fluctuation in currency rates agencies usually charge more for a currency, usually when converting to US $ which is a universal currency.

when applying for us visa in chennai u have to buy US$ at Rs48. when the market price is 46-47.

Earth, Good qn - Its one year after my medical received date and not wife's xray / newborn.

Thks,

Hi Rajesh, that was good info, thanks!
Just one more question - your visa validity is one year after your & your wife's medical date OR 1 year after your wife's x-ray and your newborn baby's medical test date.
Congratulations on the birth of your baby!  Smiley

Got letter from CIC to send additional documents. FBI, Birth Certificate, etc.

Also, I got my medical at Cincinnati by Dr James Lutz. They were really helpful and sent my physical exam a day after. It only costs me $325.

Hey Shyli and Stlguy,

Can I ask you a couple of questions ..

1. What did you do for proof of funds. Did you consider a rule of thumb, if any ?. I will be landing with my wife and baby.
2. What is the Goods to follow list ? Is it a simple list printed on a sheet of paper ?

Thank you so much.

Rajesh,
1. For proof of funds, I showed USD 28,000 (USD 8000 cash and USD 20,000 cashiers check). This was just to be on safe side.
But for a family of 3 you are required to show only $16,967
You can see the matrix at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp - It is for skilled workers though. This is just to give a rough idea.
2. They ask for list of all the items you would be bringing to Canada later. They ask it for your benefit. You would be exempted of import duty on these items. There are 2 options to show it - a) carry well printed B4 forms and waste lot of time b) carry neatly written sheet with list of items and they would attach it to a single B4 when you land
You need to mention vehicle's VIN# also in case you would be transpoting your vehicle. Also carry pics of costly items (e.g. jewellry) - they may ask it for valuation. I was not asked though.
