http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/buffalo/imm/fees-frais_buffalo.aspxDetails on paying fees in buffalo. Guys,
I need some urgent information regarding the fees payment when submitting application to CIC at Buffalo NY office,
based on the information I see on the Buffalo office website, the fees can be paid in Canadian or US dollars , payable to 'Canadian Consulate General ' but when I checked the documents received from AINP, there is a sheet about fees information, that mentions that fees can be paid only in Canadian dollars and is payable to 'Receiver General for Canada'. This sheet also mentions that the Right of Permanent Residence Fee should be paid later and that the CIC will request it at a later stage.
So I called up AINP today and the person there said that the fees can be paid in USD but should be payable to 'Receiver General for Canada' and Right of Permanent Residence Fee should be paid now along with application...
the CIC website currently shows the fees as USD 510 for Principal Applicant , 510 for spouse and 140 for child so total would be 1160..is this the correct fees.. if Right of Permanent Residence Fee is added for USD 455 * 2 = 910,,total of USD 2070
this is so confusing.. please help guys,,thanks in advance..

Yes, all you need to re-enter from <30 days visits to Canada and Mexico is an expired USA visa and papers that show you are in VALID and CURRENT status in the USA.
You will need the orginal I-797 for the extension. Take both the old and new. If your old I-94 has expired they will take that out when you RETURN back to the USA and give you a new one with the new expiration date. BUT make sure you DO NOT surrender the I-94 when you leave USA.
This can be done @ any port of entry. I have done it while flying back and also when I drove back in.
Remember one thing though. If you apply for a visa stamping while in Canada or Mexico then it invalidates AVR.
Hi omardalian, I have all required papers with me and plan to return back in 4 days but i have readed from USCIS website they mentioned if you changed your status f1 or j1 or h4 to h1 then only you can use AVR process(with valid i94) is it true or if h1b expired then agian have valid i-94 also use AVR. Can you clarify this point. Thanks Omardalian for your answer.

What visa were you on before you got H1B? If it was F, J, H or O then you are good. I think anything other than visitor visas are eligible for AVR. The "TO" part doesn't matter i.e. it doesn't matter whether you went from F to J or F to H or H to H etc. All that matters is that BOTH your current and old status should be from the group of F, J, H or O and you should have an expired visa stamp from that group and VALID papers for the NEW status. Read this memo. It tells you the same: http://www.laborimmigration.com/2008/08/automatic-visa-revalidation-program-travel-to-contiguous-territories/Also please note "Citizens of countries which are considered sponsors of terrorism are ineligible." So you should be GOOD TO GO !!! Hi maverick see my new post regarding AVR. Has some additional details and clarifications. So, if I understand correctly, one can re-enter the US with an expired visa as long as the I-94 is current as long as you return within 30 days? Will the I-94 that accompanies an H1-B extension suffice if the one in the passport has expired (as the date on it matches with the previous 797)?
Can this be done if the port of entry is an airport and not a border posting?
Thanks!

Friends,
Finally I am landing canada this week end (calgary, drive from Great falls montana - coutts). Prepared below documents 4 photos of each applicant bank statement marriage certificate birth certificates educational/experience letters Goods to follow list (B4). I797, I94 and pay stubs.
I have few questions about B4 form. 1) Do we need to mention serial numbers of all electronics ?? Is canadian immigration officer specific about that ? 2) do we need to mention VIN number of Car which i want to import to canada ? 3) How to open the bank account in canada ? ( I am using my far relative address (McMurry) for PR card, where as i don't have any proof to show that it is my address while opening bank account)
Appreciate your suggestions.

1.- The form mentioned (Description of goods (include serial numbers, if applicable) I don't think so, if you don't have the serial for an object don't worry but as much as possible try to write it. 2.- Yes you do and also check this link: http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/roadsafety/safevehicles-importation-usa-index-445.htm3.- You rent and apartment first and then open the bank account Have a good trip are you coming to just land or to settle?

Hey Guys, Question ..... How often can i email Buffalo regarding my application status before they get pissed Best approach to contact these offices is to fax/email with weekly interval so they don't remember specific file.

Application resent to CIC for Alberta . CIC received on 24th March 2010. MO is not cashed yet.
Can other people post their time line or cash check information to get idea of time to cash checks?
Thanks, sam70
