Still waiting for PPR!!. I strongly believe that Newyork office is taking a lot of time processing all my 5 state PCCs besides my Home country PCC (India) and FBI certficate, since i had stayed in 5 States in the last 10 years. Also, I have already sent a notorized copy of my new I 797 to Newyork office on Nov 9 2009 since my old I 797 would expire on Nov 14 2009. Luckily my new H1B Renewal was approved on October 21 2009 and my employer forwarded it to me on Nov 5 2009.

People, Just wanted to rectify some incorrect information I had found and posted: How much is the LANDING VISA fees?? I thought it was $415 US ...... But my lawyer confirmed, its $455 US. K Ok found it: http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/washington/imm/fees_frais_usd.aspxThe RIGHT OF PERMANENT RESIDENCE FEE is US$ 415. Oops! Well nonetheless, you will get it soon  Btw, how much is the landing fees in USD, I figured it is 490 Canadian but cudnt find the link where CIC specifies exact US $ amount. I have not got PPR yet officially waiting on ittttttttttt. second with yoru lawyer........ he is right !! Congrats to Tapak, Nix, CCH and Despo on the PPR.
Guys, I need to verify one thing: How long is the landing visa valid for? My lawyer told me that it will be valid for exactly for 1 year from the day you do your medicals. For ex, if you did you medicals on 01-10-2009 then your landing visa will be valid until 31-09-2010 (dd-mm-yyyy). Does this sound accurate?
All who have received their landing visa, please verify this!

As far as I know, there are two fees: 1. Application fee that you send to Buffalo or another visa post along with your original application and 2. Right of permanent resident fee (RPRF) that must be paid before they put PR visa in your passport. This is normally paid once the positive decision has been made and passport has been requested. It is also common for people to send this fee along with the application fee (optional at that time, but mandatory before getting PR visa). I have never heard of Landing fees. There was NO fees when I landed. |

getting really frustrating now, waiting for PPR, i even sent a case specific inquiry to NY CIC last week no reply yet. Is it really that difficult for them to respond with an estimated time line or to let us know that the quota is over for this year. Apparently this happened last year too the PPRs dried up during November and resumed in Jan '09. I got this info from a person on trackitt.com its been 3 weeks since e-cas updated with medicals received.

CCH is right!
No fees for Alberta health insurance. You can apply for Health cards as soon as you get there, but you need a proof of address with your name on it. You get this by opening a bank account first and asking to print a page with your Alberta address showing on it.
No fees for SIN cards and nothing needed to apply for SIN other than your passport and COPR. They will ask for address too, but no need to verify it like for health cards.

I have another question. where do you get the goods to follow list? If you are not moving permanently do you have to fill out the forms when you land?
Can you add other stuff on it after landing. I am planning to land first and move to alberta in october. By then I am sure I will buy new stuff or sell some of my items.
