Online payment of fees- copy 2 of receipt.

Hi everyone,
So I just paid my fees online and after I pressed submit, a single receipt page showed up (it says "Official Receipt" on it) and I printed 2 copies. In the immigration guide on the CIC website, it says to include "copy 2" of the receipt. Was I supposed to get a receipt that says, ie, actually has printed on it the words "Copy 2" or do they just mean the second copy of the receipt I printed?
This whole application process is so un-nerving, I'm getting paranoid about the smallest details, lol.

Also, just noticed that there is a spot for "Client ID" details in the "Payer Information" section. I leave this blank right?

Hi there,

You have to include the bottom portion from the 'official reciept". It has nothing to do with the two copies you have takien printouts of.

From the guide: Sponsorship I - Spouses, common-law partners, conjugal partners and dependent children 27
Once you have paid the fees you must:
•print the official receipt;
•fill out by hand the “Payer Information” section;
•attach the bottom portion (copy 2) of this receipt to your completed application.

Yep, the bottom part should be marked as copy 2, and that's what you send in. And if you don't have a Client ID or don't know what it is, you can leave it blank.

I paid and printed my receipt online also..

Copy 2 is just the second copy of the receipt... ( you need to keep one for your records).

If you paid at a financial institution you would tear off the Copy 2 section and submit that. But you didn't so its irrelevant.

You may not have a client ID right now - keep it blank
Fill in the Payer info

So copy 2 is just the second copy and it doesn't actually say "copy 2"?! Thank goodness- I was beginning to think that I had the wrong receipt (even though it was done online, so it couldn't have been)

...The receipt actually has a perforated line in the middle, separating copy 1 from copy 2, and they are labeled as such. This official receipt would have been emailed to you, at the address you specified.

Rinnerz- I checked the receipt that I was sent as an attachment in the email they sent me after payment and my receipt does not look the same The bar code appears only once on the whole page and there is no line separating the top and bottom half.
Could they have changed the way the receipt looks like recently?

All these posts about payment troubles is really making me nervous, we're going to be paying in the next week and I'm so worried something is going to get messed up

That's what I'm wondering now. Although... it wouldn't make sense for them to still refer to the Copy 2 if there is no longer a Copy 2. Maybe others who've applied recently (and paid online) will eventually chime in. As far as I know, nothing's changed... but who knows. It used to be pretty common for people to mix up the official receipt with the basic one, because the first thing you're shown after paying online is the basic one (just showing the transaction); the official one is always emailed to you.

No "copy 2" My husband paid last month. So do not stress out. My receipt number starts with a R

I think there is NO COPY 2 when you pay Online.  You just have to print 2 copies of the online receipt. One to be sent to CPC and the other copy for safe-keep as reference. 

The word "Copy 2" appears when you pay at a Financial Institution using the FORM IMM5401. A 1 page Form IMM5401 are divided into 4 parts.
1. Copy 1 - Client's copy (top portion of the form)
2. Copy 2 - To be sent by client to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC)   (middle portion of the form)
3. somewhat similar to voucher that indicate the amount paid (IMM5412)
4. Reverse side of the IMM5401 indicates the "payer information" - name, address, postal code, tel number.

so when i pay online i just print 2 copies and send in 1?

Mine didn't look like Rinnerz either...but I think it was supposed to somewhere. I have a feeling our receipt was lost out there somewhere so we had to get Mississauga to let Buffalo know that payment was good.

My receipt only had one bar code two.  I only paid about 2 weeks ago.  I printed off two copies, completed the relevant details; sent one with my app and kept one.  Sure it will be fine so long as it has the barcode and ref number
